Residents in the Coquimbo Region Protest Against an 8-Day Water Shutdown by the Canadian Imperialist-Owned Company “Aguas del Valle”
In various locations across the Coquimbo Region, such as Peñuelas, Punta Mira, Sindenpart in Coquimbo, Las Compañías, and La Serena, the residents and masses have taken to the streets to protest the 8-day water shutdown in the region imposed by “Aguas del Valle,” a company owned by the comprador big bourgeoisie and funded by Canadian imperialist capital.
The company—owned by the comprador big bourgeoisie and funded by Canadian imperialist capital—has given no response to the masses and residents. Its false promises that 75% of the region’s sectors would have water restored have also gone unfulfilled.
It should also be noted that the company “Aguas del Valle,” in the 2025 management report of the Superintendency of Sanitary Services of the old State, ranks this company—funded by Canadian imperialist capital—as the water utility with the most fines in Chile, having accumulated penalties totaling more than 4,230 million pesos, 80% of which stem from serious deficiencies and violations of health regulations.
Residents and the masses have also enthusiastically expressed their discontent and outrage at the neglect of the old State—led by the ultra-reactionary, hunger-inducing government, a puppet of Yankee imperialism of Kast-IMF—and the municipalities, due to their complete failure to respond to the material and human losses caused by the storm in the region, as well as the water and power outages.
