Mexico: Weekly Newsletter

We hereby publish an unofficial translation of the part on Mexico from the latest Weekly Newsletter published by Sol Rojo on the 27th of July.

The National Indigenous Congress (CNI) issued an important statement following the arrest of comrade Jesús Placido Galindo and Francisco Moreno Hernández, both political prisoners held by the Morena governments in Guerrero and Chiapas, respectively. The statement emphasizes that “Regardless of the political label they claim to have, the methods and tactics of bad governments remain the same: dispossession, forced displacement, political imprisonment, and a war against those who defend the land, territory, autonomy, and life.”

In Mexico, the war against the people continues to escalate with arbitrary arrests, forced displacement, murders (more than 500,000), and forced disappearances (more than 133,000).

This situation tends to worsen in the face of increased interference and threats of military intervention by Yankee imperialism in our country, the underlying aim of which is to reinforce Mexico’s semi-colonial status in order to ensure the full imposition of megaprojects of dispossession and death, reshaping the economic geography of Mexico and Mesoamerica in the interests of big monopoly capital.

In the face of this situation, the only possible response remains the struggle for principled unity and unity in action among the various forces of the people, from a democratic, anti-imperialist, and revolutionary perspective that places the struggle for land and national liberation at the center.

Solidarity with all the just struggles of the peoples of Anáhuac!

Stop the war against the people!

Down with Yankee-imperialist interference!
