Greece: Victory for the Workers’ Struggle in the Case of Chrysa Chotzoglou

After 18 months of mobilizations and mass demonstrations, the government was forced to accept the positive recommendation of the disciplinary council and sign the end of Chrysa’s leave. She is, as Class March states, the first public servant since the Junta period to be furloughed due to union activity.

Chrysa Chotzoglou was sanctioned five days after the people’s massive strike on February 28, 2025. The decision was made by the former Minister of Education, and the current Minister also agreed with the suspending of the activist teacher, despite the fact that the disciplinary council unanimously recommended her acquittal.

Class March explains that “These victories showed that the only line in the movement that can bring results is that of persistence in the mass struggle, and trust in the forces of the people.” Teachers’ Struggle explains that this victory “constitutes an important vindication of the line of persistence in the mass struggle” and that it is “a victory for the entire sector”.
