Denmark – Roede Fane: Protest in Tingbjerg Against Police Violence on September 27
We hereby share a call published by Roede Fane of Denmark on September 12, the introductory note of Roede Fane is an unofficial translation.
We are sharing an invitation to a demonstration taking place in Tingbjerg on September 27 at 1 p.m. at Åkandevej 55.
The demonstration is organized by the group Crisis Mirror and is endorsed by, among others, Antiimperialist Action, Active for Palestine Brønshøj/Husum/Tingbjerg, CRAC, Revolutionary Antifascists, the Somali Association in Denmark, and PalSol.
The organizers write in the event description:
𝐓𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞!
𝐃𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟕 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫, 𝟏:𝟎𝟎–𝟐:𝟑𝟎 𝐩.𝐦.
Å𝐤𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐣 𝟓𝟓, 𝐓𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐛𝐣𝐞𝐫𝐠
Video footage from 1 August shows the police firing multiple shots at a person in Tingbjerg who was driving away from them.
This is just one of the latest incidents in which the Danish police have displayed unrestrained brutality and deep contempt for the very people they claim to protect.
Time and again, the police and the media try to shift the blame onto the people and neighborhoods they mistreat. They call our streets “ghettos,” and they call our neighbours “criminals” and “delinquent youths.” It’s a ridiculous attempt to justify the violence. They cry outrage over a burning trash can, as if that could in any way compare to the way they humiliate and terrorise our neighbourhoods.
But we see it with our own eyes, on video and on our streets; and we feel it on our own bodies: They shoot and beat us—and our neighbors—without restraint. Time and again, we see that there are no consequences for the officers at fault.
We are gathering to show our solidarity with our neighbours in Tingbjerg.
We are gathering to show our solidarity with anyone who is assaulted or murdered by the police.
We are gathering to show that our unity is stronger: neither violence nor lies can turn us against one another.
Join the demonstration on Sunday, September 27, 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Åkandevej 55, Tingbjerg
