Lebanon: Statement by Palestinian Youth Organization on Ahmad Sa’adat

Palestinian Youth Organization: Freedom for Comrade Ahmed Saadat and for all Palestinian prisoners
The Palestinian Youth Organization affirms its support for the campaign demanding the release of Comrade Ahmed Saadat, Secretary-General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and all Palestinian prisoners in occupation prisons, who continue their struggle for freedom and national dignity despite the ongoing violations they are exposed to.
The continued detention of comrade Ahmed Saadat, and the symbol he represents of the Palestinian national struggle, cannot be separated from the occupation policy aimed at targeting the Palestinian national movement, its leaders and activists, and trying to break the will of the Palestinian people and discourage them from continuing their struggle for their legitimate national rights.
From this standpoint, the Palestinian Youth Organization calls on Palestinian youth, youth and student forces, unions, popular and trade union organizations, and free people of the world to expand the circle of solidarity with the Palestinian prisoners, raise their voice in various arenas and fields, and work to bring their cause to world public opinion.
We also welcome all the movements and events organized in support of Comrade Ahmed Saadat’s freedom campaign, and we stress the importance of this campaign turning into a broad international popular and youth movement, extending from Palestine to various European countries and the world, in a way that contributes to keeping the issue of prisoners present in political, media and
legal forums.
The issue of prisoners is not only a Palestinian issue, but rather a humanitarian and human rights issue that requires solidarity and accountability, and we affirm that the voice of youth will remain present in defending the freedom of prisoners and the rights of the Palestinian people.
