October 3 will mark the 36th anniversary of the annexation of the German Democratic Republic (GDR) by the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG), resulting in the current State of German imperialism. German imperialism celebrates this date every year under the name of the “Day of German Unity”, this year in the city of Bremen in northern Germany.
We have previously shared an unofficial translation of a call made by the Red League to carry out protests against German imperialism, starting at 3 p.m. at St. Jürgen-street.
There have also been reports of actions and calls made by several other groups. Already on August 10, a letter claiming responsibility for the burning of a Tesla car in a rich Bremen neighborhood made the call to make the celebrations of German imperialism “a disaster,” and a week later on August 18, the company “Just add AI”, involved in the surveillance of public transport, was attacked with butyric acid. The statement claiming responsibility called for more actions to be realized leading up to October 3 and the day itself.
On August 29, the company Enterprise Rent-A-Car was attacked by people who say they want the action to be viewed as a part of the campaign against the celebrations. They explain that the company has aided in the massive ICE raids in the USA, seeing them as an expression of the same system of oppression that includes racism and chauvinism – also in effect in Germany.
On September 15, there were reports of paintings made as a part of the campaign, denouncing the increasing militarization and especially the planned reinstallation of obligatory military service that waves of students are protesting all around the country.

Meanwhile, the German State has announced that the program for the festivities will include a “Blue Light Area,” presenting propaganda not only of German police and the German army, but even a stand by the US Army.
On September 21, a statement was published reporting windows of the logistical company Kühne und Nagel being smashed, which since the times of nazi-fascism has been involved with the German army. The police claimed this caused more than 100.000 Euro in damages.
