Brazil – LCP: Only Agrarian Revolution Can Defeat the Latifundium and the Extreme Right in This Country!

We hereby share an unofficial translation of a statement by the League of the Poor Peasants (LCP) published on October 19.

You Reap What You Sow!

The first round of the electoral farce gave the latifundium majority in the vast majority of state governments, state legislatures, the federal Chamber of Deputies, and the Senate, and put them in the lead, albeit by a narrow margin, in the race for the country’s presidency. Latifundium – a long-standing bastion of the extreme right economically, politically, and ideologically, as well as (im)morally – even while enjoying all the usual benefits from the old State and its governments in power – such as the “Plano Safras” (R$ 600 billion this year) and all sorts of tax breaks and other advantages that only foreign banks and corporations have always enjoyed – want to impose on the people and the country the most reactionary government possible, the most subservient to the United States, even if it means a coup d’état, as was attempted with the defeat of Bolsonaro Sr. in 2022. No wonder. In this rotten, demoralized, and fraudulent system, the people, no matter how marginalized by poverty and exposed to political manipulation and exploitation of their religious faith by all manner of opportunists and swindlers, are still lured and dragged along by these individuals with illusory promises of solving their material and spiritual needs. At the same time, it imposes enormous barriers to the elevation of their class-based political consciousness and to their independent organization in defense of their rights and interests. After decades of frustration, the people no longer take anything about this corrupt political system and its “politicians” seriously. So, having been deceived a thousand times, they end up voting in exchange for the fulfillment of their basic needs – which are many: a doctor’s appointment, medical treatment, a job, tractor services… But all of this, when “resolved” by the “politicians,” is done with the people’s own money – money that the powerful steal to buy the “citizen’s” vote (the vote, not their conscience) – since they’re already overflowing with State funds via congressional appropriations. All this, in addition to controlling access to public services with an iron fist, also involves using brutal repression to attack the people when they fight for their rights.

Worse still, this election was held under direct Yankee interference, not only on the very date of its occurrence with the closure of its diplomatic representations (embassy in Brasília and consulates in state capitals), but also in the wake of tariff increases, billions in funding for far-right internet propaganda, the classification of common crime organizations as terrorists to justify direct military intervention in Latin American and Central American countries neighboring Brazil, under the threat that “we will be next.” And finally, as the last threat, the meeting of leaders from various subservient and/or cowardly countries to prepare the repression against the new revolutionary threat looming over the world. And, however much they deny it, the Agrarian Revolution, in its still rudimentary stages, is a stark reality in Brazil.

The result is that the latifundium, the 1% of owners who hold almost 50% of the land considered titled in Brazil (the vast majority through theft or land grabbing – which amounts to the same thing), land that should be used to feed our people, but which the big landlords use to enrich themselves with primary production for export and by engaging in shady dealings in the financial market, compared to which the nefarious Vorcaro scandal is “small potatoes.” Yes, this minority of less than 0.01% of the population, an absolute minority of the nation’s parasites, this minority is the majority in the legislative branch. And shamelessly, they make speeches about being “against the system.” This is not even a vestige of democracy; this election is a farce greater than previous elections, an instrument to legitimize this absurd dictatorship.

You’re out!!!!!!!

But even with all this in their favor, some of these false candidates for representatives of the people, usually the most arrogant ones, the “sorcerer’s apprentices,” [translators note: referring tothe cautionary tale by Goethe] who boast of being the guardians of the system of exploitation, who speak openly in defense of latifundium and their cruel domination, who commit crime after crime against the people, who attack the people when they want to conquer their little piece of land, often end up reaping what they sow. The latest victim was the declared enemy of our honorable LCP, the henchman Braguin, because those who whispered “destroy LCP” in his ear, pulled the rug out from under him, and he suffered a lukewarm vote for federal deputy; on the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) website, his name doesn’t even appear as an alternate; it’s listed as NOT ELECTED!

Guaxebão, the murderer of the poor, detractor of the LCP, who has repeatedly accused us of being terrorists, and a lackey of the big landlords, began his campaign by posting a video of himself firing a rifle at a sign that read LCP in huge letters, under the false pretense that he had destroyed the organization. Imitating the second “Elite Squad” movie, he warned that “now the enemy is different,” and that he was on his way to battle in Brasília, where, for him, lies the “other enemy,” the “system,” the same system that, to this day, has granted him impunity for the various crimes he has committed. But Braguin criticized this “system,” which for him was supposedly lenient towards the LCP. It never was! Nor could it be! Because this system is based precisely on the latifundium and the domination of foreign imperialism over the country; it is the system that the LCP actually fights against!

The LCP was organized out of necessity for the peasant masses, because in this country’s bureaucratic capitalism – devised and maintained by imperialism to serve its interests to the fullest, with the old Brazilian State as its guardian – the reality in which we live is one where the people’s lives, regardless of which government is in power, remain mired in the same poverty as always. In other words, it is a system of oppression and exploitation where the latifundium controls everything; where the monopoly and concentration of land are the open wound and cancer of the Nation and the ruin of our people. Therefore, in our country, against this odious centuries-old system, the LCP is a historical necessity and a decisive instrument of the Agrarian Revolution, because the LCP not only defends the struggle for land for poor landless peasants or those with little land through the destruction of latifundium, for its complete end, and by the only possible means, by the peasants’ own hands and with the support of the working class and other urban workers, and the armed self-defense of the masses. The LCP delivers on its program, destroying the latifundium piece by piece and giving the land to poor peasants. In every corner of Rondônia and in various parts of Brazil, there is a Brazilian man or a woman who conquered their land under our flags. And even with all the hateful campaigns of demonization, criminalization, and imprisonment of comrades and lawyers; with the assassinations of many comrades in the LCP leadership, our heroes and heroines; even with all this, we move forward and we will triumph. The henchman Braguin is headed for the dustbin of history sooner than he was promised when he began his shady career – perhaps hand in hand with his predecessor, “Major” Enedy, from whom he stole the “position.”

Just so everyone can rub it in your face when you spread a few more lies, slander, or nonsense on TikTok:

Republicans, Colonel Braguin (aka guaxebão), NOT ELECTED, 13,152 votes, more than 20,000 votes behind the last elected candidate, 41st place.

He’s not going to Brasília! He’ll have to put up with us!

The king is dead, long live the king!

But let no one be mistaken: in this country dominated by latifundium, the role of persecutor of the LCP – previously held by the ill-fated thug Braguin in Rondônia – will not be left vacant. The one who now assumes this sinister position is the elected senator Bruno Scheid, pejoratively known as Bruno Bolsonaro, who has been leading the attacks against the LCP. The rumor mill has it that he is being considered for a possible position in the Ministry of Agrarian Development, or a related agency, if the degenerate playboy, professional thief, and militiaman Flávio Bolsonaro were elected. The election isn’t even over, and the scum are already resting on their laurels. They’ll lose!

Along with his fellow senator-elect Fernando Máximo, the two managed to easily convince the fool Bolsonaro that the LCP is a terrorist organization and that it “has a date and time set for its end.” In a video, Bruno, acting like a bully, calls for the invasion of indigenous lands and environmental parks, and whines that he is a “rural producer” who worked honestly and had his property invaded by the LCP in 2018. In another video from his campaign, in which he talks to the PL presidential candidate, the latter responded: “If they are poor, how can they have rifles?”

Regarding the facts

First and foremost, the true rural producers in this country are us, and the lower tier of medium-sized landowners. We all confront the latifundium and its financial system that ruins our production, impoverishes the people, and parasitizes the nation. We, the peasants celebrated in verse and prose by Pena Branca and Xavantinho, Zé Mulato and Cassiano, Duduca and Dalvan, Jacó and Jacozinho, and many other authentic voices, are the true owners of the land. These filthy fascists like Bruno Bolsonaro and others of the same ilk produce nothing, steal the people’s land, and are protected by the country’s corrupt justice system. They steal the land and call us bandits if we reclaim it, organized, for those who work hard from sunrise to sunset. This scum produces to export and reproduce the true financial pyramid scheme – funded mainly by crop subsidy programs, the absence of tax collection, and the right to kill in defense of the product of their theft: the land. We present a small sample of the production from the Paulo Bento area, in the Mirante da Serra region of Rondônia, by peasants who have been facing threats of eviction for over ten years in an area that is public land. In addition, they have faced numerous attacks by goons, environmental persecution, and threats from from the State’s repressive forces.

Land grabber!

Bruno Sheid hates the LCP. As peasants who work from sunrise to sunset, who live off our sacred sweat on the land that we often water with the tears of our families, what pride it gives us to hear a worm like this declare his hatred for us. That’s right, we know all his dirty secrets, and there are plenty. The peasants who tried to seize the land he claims is his in Nova Brasilândia in 2018, who were evicted the same day, without a court order, by a police force illegally sent by the government of Rondônia, were actually in possession of the land belonging to an elderly man known as “Italian,” who, despite having purchased the right to use it, knew full well that it was public land that had been illegally appropriated. This man cohabited with Bruno “Bolsonaro’s” mother, but in reality, it was just a scheme, as soon turned out; they swindled the old man out of his wealth. This story, through other channels, reached the masses. Tell the truth, paleface, show the chain of title for this public land!

Moving forward with the Agrarian Revolution

Ultimately, in this electoral process, the most discredited since the elections held during the military regime, the extreme right received a third of the votes, the right and opportunists another third, and a third went to those rejecting the electoral farce. May the upheaval that has gripped a segment of the youth, mobilizing to defeat the extreme right in this electoral farce, not end there. These demonstrations were contained for decades by opportunism, which promised that its policy of conciliation and appeasement would ward off the danger of fascism, and it failed. May they serve to swell the ranks of the Agrarian Revolution, for it is on this front, as soon as October 25 passes, that the serious struggles of the anti-imperialist social and national liberation struggle will radicalize. Only the Agrarian Revolution can defeat the latifundium and the extreme right.

Long live the Agrarian Revolution!

Land to those who live and work on it!

Death to the latifundium!

Down with imperialism!

Freedom for Dr. Lenir and all her imprisoned comrades!

Long live the 3rd anniversary of the glorious Al-Aqsa Flood!
