“LCP Attacks Farm with Assault Weapons” the Bourgeois Press in Rondônia Claims

“Criminals”, “violent attack” or even “terrorist crime” are some of the descriptions that can be found in the bourgeois media of Rondônia, and even in the social media of the Military Police regarding the League of the Poor Peasants (LCP), A Nova Democracia (AND) reports. Some days ago, the bourgeois press of Rondônia wrote on an alleged action carried out by the LCP in Norbrasil farm. The accusations regarding this action were first made by the commander of the Military Police of Rondônia, Regis Braguin, infamous repressive forces agent and well-known in the area, in the service of latifundium.

The bourgeois press highlights “Alleged criminals from the LCP commit violent attack on a farm in Porto Velho”. During the attack there were “Destruction of two houses and a warehouse that were demolished” using demolition machines. “Bullet casings of 762, 556, 357, .30 and 12g caliber” could be found “in a radius of 100 meters from the headquarters of the Norbrasil farm” in the surrounding area. This farm is located very close to the LCP’s Tiago Campin dos Santos camp, where around two thousand peasants live and work the land.

The bourgeois press highlights that the Military Police deployed the Riot Battalion and helicopters to fly over the region, reinforcing the image that the LCP is a military band, an idea that the bourgeois press itself try to spread among the people.

However, A Nova Democracia reports on the constant agrarian conflicts linked to the big landlord Antônio Martins dos Santos, known as “Galo Velho”, named as the great “land grabber of Rondônia”. According to investigations from the Federal Public Ministry and the Federal Police, he is the commander of a criminal organization responsible of embezzling more than 330 million of reais in fraud of the State, in addition to being responsible for the land grabbing which Norbrasil is part of, using the armed bands of the police.

AND reports that the farm Norbrasil itself is part of this land grabbing, because even though they don’t own the property of the land, they continue to grab it and use it to the benefit of the latifundium with the protection of the State Forces. Additionally, during the “Lamassu Operation”, launched by the MPF in 2022, it was confirmed that “Galo Velho” used armed bands of civil police and paramilitaries to attack the peasants in the State, mainly for the execution of poor peasants linked to the LCP.

Since the formation of the Tiago Campin dos Santos Camp, the latifundium and the Military Police in their service carried out several attacks against the peasants who live and work on the land and are organized by the LCP. However, the LCP already highlighted the following in their last statement: “We repeat: you are mistaken in thinking that your attacks will stop the struggle for land! As long as this situation exists, where a handful of land-thieving, privileged, parasitic landowners hold most of the country’s land, while tens of millions of peasants are left with almost nothing, ruined, and pushed deeper into poverty, this struggle will continue and will become more bloody. Our struggle is just, our struggle spans centuries, it is a historic cause awaiting resolution, our struggle is sacred!”
