Greece: Commemoration of the Martyrs of the Party and the Revolution, and Salutations to the People’s War in India
We hereby share an unofficial translation of a report issued by Yeni Demokrasi.
Events continue as part of the Commemoration Week of the Martyrs of the Party and the Revolution. In Athens, the capital of Greece, a commemoration event was organized on January 21st by Partizan and the Solidarity Initiative with the Indian People. The event saluted the ongoing People’s War in India.
The event began with a moment of silence in memory of the martyrs of the Party and the revolution. Following the moment of silence, a statement released by Partizan emphasized the inter-imperialist struggle for hegemony and the increasing tension worldwide. “This aggression, from Gaza to the national armed resistance forces in Syrian Kurdistan and the Maoist movements waging People’s War, stems primarily from their awareness of the mission of armed resistance as a political-military force that organizes and mobilizes the masses and can shake their own power,” the statement said.
The statement went on to say that the revolutionary martyrs continue to set an example with their determination and fighting spirit, emphasizing the importance of learning from them and embracing their revolutionary courage. It noted that the successors who follow in the footsteps of Communist Leader İbrahim Kaypakkaya continue to fuel the fears of the dominant reactionary classes. “From Ali Haydar to Nubar, from Meral Yakar to Asmin, every comrade who became immortal in this cause is our reason for holding on to the struggle,” the statement concluded. Regarding Operation Kagar and the recent losses of the CPI (Maoist), it was stated: “Losses are temporary, the victory of the People’s War is absolute. As CPI (Maoist) comrades cling more tightly to MLM and integrate more with the masses, they will compensate for the losses with the correct political and military line, regain lost positions, and create a strong barricade against the liquidators, preventing them from clouding the consciousness of the masses. We have complete faith in this. The People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army, under the leadership of CPI (Maoist), has emerged as the most important instrument of the revolutionary war organized against imperialism and its Indian native lackeys, the comprador capitalist and feudal landowners. It was born within the People’s War line, the path of the Indian revolution, and has been tempered and forged in the fire of a legacy created under the leadership of Charu Mazumdar. Neither Operation Kagar nor the traitors emerging from within will be able to defeat CPI (Maoist) and the PLGA under its leadership. The temporary intoxication of victory…” (…) “It is futile. In India, the reactionary ruling classes will lose, and the People’s War will win! This belief is reinforced by our comrades who resisted at the cost of their lives and blood, the fighting spirit of the Indian people who are the subjects of the war, and of course, our immortal comrades who sacrificed their lives for the victory of the struggle.”
The statement released by the Solidarity Initiative with the People of India said, “We commemorate the martyrs who gave their lives for this noble cause.” It noted that the armed struggle has continued since the 1967 Naxalbari uprising, but the movement has never had a secure rear base, a progressive national bloc, or the necessary level of international solidarity, and is now at a difficult juncture. It stated that calling for a “peaceful struggle” under these circumstances, given that the CPI (Maoist Communist Party) lost 320 fighters, Party members, and cadres during the Kagar mass extermination operation, is hypocrisy. The statement continued by addressing the real reasons behind the Indian ruling classes’ justifications for the operation, concluding, “Victory, sooner or later, will belong to the people of India.”
Following the speeches, a slideshow prepared by Partizan for the Commemoration Week of the Martyrs of the Party and the Revolution was shown.
The event concluded with a screening of the documentary “Operation Kagar – The Last Warning,” produced by the Revolutionary Students Front of India.
