Mexico: Weekly Newsletter
We hereby share an unofficial translation of an excerpt on Mexico from the latest weekly newsletter published by Sol Rojo.
While Sheinbaum maintains a servile position toward Yankee imperialism, obeying each of its orders to the letter, and now also suspending oil shipments to Cuba, thereby reinforcing the economic blockade against the island imposed by the gringos, the war against the people in our country continues to intensify. Two recent cases in the south of the republic make it clear that collusion between organized crime and the state is genetic and is deepening every day.
In Guerrero and Oaxaca, two states governed by Morena whose governors have been accused of maintaining ties to criminal groups, violence has spiraled out of control, striking the masses and their way of life, targeting mainly the organized popular movements that represent the only brake on the advance of reaction in all its forms. In Guerrero, a caravan made up of the Regional Coordinator of Community Authorities of the Founding Peoples (CRAC-PF) and the Union of Peoples and Organizations of the State of Guerrero (UPOEG), accompanied by human rights observers, was attacked with high-powered weapons and bombarded with drones by organized crime as they toured communities where hundreds of poor peasant families have been victims of forced internal displacement.
According to our colleagues at CIPOG-EZ… “Upon arriving at the community of La Estrella Guerrero, in the municipality of Tecoanapa, we were attacked with high-powered weapons. We managed to repel the attack and move forward, but further on, in Rancho Viejo, we were ambushed by the ardillos and attacked with drones and high-powered weapons.” The events have been documented in various media outlets and demonstrate the Mexican government’s lack of response (collusion).
In Oaxaca, the democratic teachers’ union Section XXII of the SNTE-CNTE held a regional march in Ciudad Ixtepec, in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec region, denouncing that education workers and parents are being victims of extortion and protection rackets at the hands of criminal groups that have proliferated since the imposition of the Interoceanic Corridor. The organized response of our comrades in both states of the country is the correct method of confronting the reactionaries and their armed groups, that is: mass political mobilization and revolutionary armed self-defense against them.
It is clear that neither Claudia Sheinbaum, Evelyn Salgado, nor Salomón Jara will do anything to address the demands of communities, poor farmers, and education workers affected by drug-related violence and insecurity generated by criminal groups. They will not do so because they have a genetic link, as we mentioned above. This connection is twofold and is based on the regime of servitude and semi-feudalism imposed by the big landlord nature of the Mexican State, as well as on the corruption inherent in capitalism at any stage of its development. The big landlord-bureaucratic State is not the solution, it is the problem. Let us build the United Front capable of stopping the war against the people and state terrorism!
