Netherlands: END THE REPRESSION OF COMRADE ALEX
We hereby share a statement and a report of actions published on the website of the Communist Committee of the Netherlands in solidarity with comrade Alex, recently arrested.
The arrest of Comrade Alex in France is a blatant act of political repression. For the second time, the French state has detained an activist who was already facing heavy persecution for their unwavering commitment to the struggle for Palestine. This is not an isolated legal matter — it is a conscious attempt by the imperialist state to crush revolutionary solidarity and intimidate those who refuse to bow before injustice.
Comrade Alex has stood firmly with the Palestinian people in their just struggle against occupation, colonialism, and imperialist violence. At a moment when the crimes against Palestine are visible to the entire world, the rulers of Europe have chosen not to confront these crimes but to criminalize those who oppose them. The arrest of Alex exposes the true nature of these states: defenders not of freedom, but of imperialist interests and the machinery of war.
This repression reveals the fear of the ruling classes. They see the growing anger among the masses, the growing solidarity with Palestine, and the growing rejection of imperialist domination. Unable to silence the truth through debate, they resort to repression — arrests, surveillance, intimidation, and imprisonment.
But history teaches us a clear lesson: repression only sharpens resistance.
Every arrest reveals the weakness of the system it tries to defend. Every act of repression exposes the dictatorship hidden behind the mask of so-called democracy. And every activist targeted by the state becomes a symbol of the broader struggle against imperialism and oppression.
Comrade Alex is not alone. Across the world, the oppressed peoples continue to resist. From the camps and cities of Palestine to the streets of Europe, the struggle against imperialism grows. The attempts of the French state to isolate activist will fail, because the cause they fight for is not the cause of one individual but the cause of the masses.
We therefore denounce this arrest as a political attack on the revolutionary and Palestinian solidarity movements. We demand the immediate release of Comrade Alex and an end to the persecution of activist who stand with the oppressed.
At the same time, we say clearly: the struggle will not stop. The repression of activist will not extinguish the flame of resistance. On the contrary, it proves once again that the fight against imperialism is necessary and urgent.
To the French authorities we send a message just as clear:
you may arrest revolutionaries, but you cannot arrest the people’s struggle.
Free Comrade Alex.
Long live international solidarity.
Long live the struggle of the Palestinian people.
