Red Action at the May Day Marches 2026
We hereby share an unofficial translation of the May Day call and statement from the Red Action of Finland published by Punalippu on 22nd of April.
Revolutionary activists from Red Action are participating in the May Day marches in Tampere and Helsinki.
They are raising the following slogans:
Take to the streets on May 1st against the crisis and militarization!
May Day – a day of struggle for the international working class!
Forward in building the revolutionary movement!
The program for the May Day march in Tampere begins at 10:00 a.m. at Laikunlava. Red Action invites you to march with them in the revolutionary bloc against the crisis and militarization.
In Helsinki, Red Action will participate in the “For Red Finland” bloc alongside the SKP, the Communist Workers’ Party, and the Marxist Workers’ Union. Below, we share the invitation found on the bloc’s Facebook page.

For a Red Finland – Against capitalism and imperialism everywhere in the world!
Who: All radical leftists, communists, union activists, and those who seek justice!
Where: Helsinki, Hakaniemi
When: May 1, 2026, gathering at 10:30 a.m.
Finland’s parliamentary parties pushed us into NATO membership and are rapidly increasing the defense budget and arms purchases. The same parties agreed to the EU’s austerity policies, cut healthcare funding, and accepted restrictions on trade union rights. We do not accept this.
If you feel the same way, join us in the reddest section of the May Day march!
Don’t just go along with the crowd—take a stand and join us in demanding:
Down with NATO! – No to warmongering.
Oppose the DCA [Translator’s note: Defense Cooperation Agreement, signed by Finland and US] agreement! – No more military bases.
War crimes and illegal attacks must be condemned! – No more spinelessness.
The F-35 procurement must be canceled! – Money for social and health services.
Arms deals with Israel must be stopped! – No support for apartheid.
Out of the EU! – There is enough opposition even among domestic capital.
Restore the right to strike! – The labor movement is about more than just wages.
Tax capital! – Take money from those who have it and give it to those who need it.
Keep the bourgeoisie off workers’ money! – Value created by labor belongs to those who create it.
Nationalize the banks and pension funds! – Keep the bourgeoisie off our common funds.
Out with the far right from the government! – And from everywhere.
Down with the government! – Power to the workers.
You’ll find us at Hakaniemi Market Square, between the metro station and the Market Hall. Look for our banner: For a Red Finland
After the march, there will be informal hang out near the Opera Amphitheater in Hesperia Park. Bring your own entertainment!
