Turkey: Raids Against Yeni Demokrasi in Istanbul and Eight Partizan Readers Detained
We hereby share an unofficial translation of a note published by Avrupa Haber today.
In Istanbul, Yeni Demokrasi’s headquarters and homes were raided by the police. During the operation, which took place in the early morning hours, police broke down the door of the headquarters in Taksim and confiscated computers, posters, banners, books, and numerous other materials found in the office.
Prior to the 1st of May, numerous homes in Istanbul were raided as part of a State terror operation aimed at obstructing May 1st preparations. It has been learned that at least eight Partizan readers have been detained, and the number of detentions may increase.
During the house raids, the police said, “May 1st, 2025, and the 52nd anniversary of Kaypakkaya’s death; you will learn the details at the police station.”
State repression, detention, and intimidation will not prevent the people from accessing revolutionary ideas and engaging in struggle.
