India – CASR: Update on Documentary Maker Vishal Singh’s Health

We hereby share a note published by the Campaign Against State Repression (CASR) today.

After continuously being denied proper medical treatment by the jail authorities, despite a court order, Vishal Singh’s health has deteriorated further. Finally, on August 14, the jail administration admitted him to Balrampur Hospital in Lucknow.

His condition is critical. His blood creatinine level is 22 mg/dL, which is extremely high compared with the normal range and indicates a dangerous medical condition.

Both of his kidneys have stopped functioning. He has been undergoing dialysis for the past two days and continues to suffer from persistent vomiting. However, neither the doctors are providing his family with clear information about his condition, nor are they allowing them access to his medical reports.
