Two provocateurs and electoral candidates have used propaganda from the People’s Revolutionary Student Movement (MEPR) to demand the increase of militarization and repression in the universities, A Nova Democracia (AND) reports.
Wilker Leão, electoral candidate of the Novo Party and a well-known provocateur at the University of Brasília, appears on video in front of a MEPR graffito which supports the Agrarian Revolution, calling for the deployment the Military Police in the universities and threatening to “criminalize” actions by popular organizations through his mandate.
On the other side, Victor Jansen, electoral candidate of the Liberal Party, recorded himself entering the university at night, to tear down and kick posters in homage to Comrade Basavaraj and in support of the Palestinian struggle, stating that he will install cameras and microphones to “control” students and professors.
These reactionary provocateurs try to impose their presence at the universities and call for militarization, and attacks on student’s rights and their popular organizations. Last year, both provocateurs and other elements tried to invade the university campus, attempting attacks against popular student organizations, but more than 400 people, among them MEPR, confronted and expelled them.
In a statement, MEPR affirms that students must “organize their self-defense in a combative and independent manner to prevent harassment, provocations, and aggressions, preparing themselves to respond strongly to attacks.”
