We hereby share an unofficial translation of the part on Mexico of the latest Weekly Newsletter published by Sol Rojo on September 28.

This weekend marked the 12th anniversary of the so-called “Night of Iguala,” during which 9 people (3 teacher-training students and 6 civilians) were killed, approximately 40 others were injured (teacher-training students, civilians, and soccer players), and 43 students from the “Raúl Isidro Burgos” Rural Teacher-Training College in Ayotzinapa, Guerrero, went missing. To commemorate the event, the Committee of Parents of the 43, along with the Federation of Socialist Peasant Students of Mexico (FECSM), called for a large-scale national mobilization concentrated in Mexico City and Chilpancingo, with similar demonstrations taking place in various states across the country. At the same time, the Week of Commemoration of Sol Rojo’s 10 years of public life has come to a close. During this week, various activities took place in different parts of the country; the main event was a political and cultural gathering in a Sol Rojo settlement where hundreds of comrades gathered for the celebrations, featuring speeches, slogans, and the screening of a moving video. We will share a report on our activities very soon.
