Italy – Collectives for Popular Democracy: Let us Join the Just Struggle of the French Revolutionary Youth!
We hereby share an unofficial translation of a declaration by the Collectives for Popular Democracy published on October 19. We have previously mentioned the declaration as a part of the summary of solidarity expressed with the ongoing struggles in France.
The Collectives for Popular Democracy express their support for the struggle of the proletarian students and the popular masses (of which most students are an integral part), who are waging an uprising against French imperialism and the rule of the monopoly bourgeoisie. The student uprising has evolved from mere demands to a more general opposition to the old reactionary French State.
A leading role in this context is played by the revolutionary youth, who are participating in the uprisings by fighting to establish the hegemony of proletarian ideology within the student movement, steering it toward the socialist revolution. The Communist Youth (Jeunesse Communiste) represents the organized vanguard of the student struggle in France and is, for all intents and purposes, one of the most advanced detachments of the movement in all of Europe, as well as an example to be followed by young people in our country.
The battle against growing State repression, linked to the process of fascistization advancing across the European continent, is connected to the anti-imperialist struggle. The historic task of the new proletarian youth growing up in the imperialist countries must necessarily center on solidarity with the oppressed peoples and the most advanced vanguards of the world proletarian revolution, a duty that our French comrades are fulfilling with a strong spirit of internationalism.
We must support the struggle of the French students, and the best way to do so is, first, to promote international solidarity against repression and in support of the thousands of activists, many of whom are minors, who are targets of police violence; and, secondly, to move forward with the initiative to build a broad anti-imperialist organization in our country. An organization capable of promoting opposition to the projection of Italian imperialism abroad and to the oppression that this imperialism, concentrated particularly in the centers of finance capital and the bureaucratic State in the North and Central-North of the country, also exerts over the entire South, as well as Sicily and Sardinia. At the same time, it must be an integral part of the global anti-imperialist campaigns against the hegemonic Yankee superpower, Russian imperialism, Chinese social-imperialism, and all other European imperialist countries.
