On October 22, an indefinite blockade was carried out jointly by several popular organizations local to Sajek, Rangamati in Bangladesh. The blockade was carried out with the goal of pressuring for three demands; firstly, the removal of armed members of the Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS) from Sajek; secondly, the end to death threats and intimidation of local residents; and thirdly, the end to repressive forces raids of residents’ homes.

The blockades blocked all vehicular traffic, erecting barricades of burning tires along several points throughout Sajek. At one point, army and police opened fire on and dispersed the blockades, allegedly in order to escort tourists out of the area.
