Ecuador: FOR A 1ST OF MAY WHICH ELEVATES OUR CLASS CONSCIOUSNESS
We publish this unofficial translation of the 1st of May declaration of the Front for the Defence of the People’s Struggle.
The general crisis of imperialism sharpens. Its bankruptcy is expressed, among other things, in the conflicts it generates in the world. The contradictions between the imperialist powers, headed by the US, have brought blood and suffering to the oppressed peoples of the world.
The wars in Ukraine, Gaza and other countries seek to keep the last breath to reactivate the Yankee superpower; the same, for Russia and China; but careful, that is not where the future of our people is decided, but by what the third world countries, mainly, do to defeat imperialism and its local lackeys. This is key, because we must address the conditions under which we are going to resolve the contradictions with the imperialist countries, the old States and the ruling classes; that is, how we develop the People’s War and revolutions according to the conditions and characterizations of our countries.
But imperialism and its allies, such as the criminal Zionism, they have no easy task; the stoic resistance of the Palestinian people enlightens us, generously gives us certain tactical and strategic assessments that must be analyzed in order to firmly stop the claims of the criminals, in this case, of Israel and all the powers that support it.
Yankee imperialism has fallen short in its plans for the region. The crimes and scorched earth strategy undertaken by Israel, does not yield results, on the contrary, it has managed to spur on small countries, but immeasurable and indomitable strength like Yemen (the Huthies), Lebanon and other people’s forces, which have stopped in their tracks the most equipped military powers in the world, but which are far from having the strength and will to fight that moves those of us who are with the just wars, those of the oppressed peoples.
Precisely today, in the guts of Yankee imperialism, young people from the Columbia University, also send us serious and clear messages of struggle, of coherence, of solidarity with the Palestinian people; but also, that, in within the people of the US, levels of consciousness advance and become higher in quality. The world is full of dry straw, you have to light the spark and light up the prairie!
In Ecuador, bureaucratic capitalism; which is the capitalism of the big bourgeoisie, of the big landowners, financiers, as their head they have a rich and fool kid who does everything possible to become a renewed fascist, “of the new type”.
Everything is “upside down”. The judicial system is delivered to the ruling classes, and, within them, to the organized crime. The assembly, a den where the most shameless and blatant pro-imperialist actions are planned and deepened. The repressive apparatuses, a horde of criminals in uniform. The masses? Victims of the state, of its apparatuses and criminals!
Ecuador, a country where people are murdered in the street, and under the stunned and complicit look of the repression. Every day there are massacres. Informal street vendors, exhorted and murdered by criminals, who are also police officers and soldiers on active duty: a young man lynched and incinerated for stealing some bags of avocados. People without jobs; high cost of life, excessive and irrational violence, abuse by authorities, metropolitan police usurping the merchandise of thousands of Ecuadorians who have found a life strategy in the informal work. Thousands of compatriots crossing the Darien and Mexico to try to reach the United States in search of job. Peasants stripped of their lands to hand them over to large companies mining companies. Increase of paramilitarism. How much misery! How much anguish! How much rebellion!
Meanwhile, the union centrals are silent, inactive, complicit in the fascist maelstrom of the government; the militarized country; increase in penalties, and, as if was not enough, reckless persecution of people’s fighters.
We must insist on building instruments, not only the fundamental ones to unleash the New Democratic revolution; We urgently need to generate organisms of various types that they are equipped with the training and conditions to confront the enemy of the class and the people in a different way.
It is not enough for the interests of the oppressed to go out and march or parade through the streets of the city with pots and flags shouting slogans in against the Noboa government of big landowners, financiers and compradors, it is urgent, it is decisive and even vital to assume a more belligerent and combative position to be able to firmly support the most heartfelt demands of the workers.
We do not need to demonstrate in the streets to the dictatorship of the big bourgeoisie and big landowners, to the government and its dogs, that we are many and that the streets can fuel our pain and rebellion; we need them to feel it, to live it; that they can no longer govern as they have done for centuries, that we, the rural and urban toilers, the workers, poor peasants, street vendors, unemployed, the landless, or those who work hourly and poorly paid despite the fact that in the farce of the popular consultation this modality of work was approved, we are ready and determined to fight, whatever the cost. No matter what, in the end, we have nothing to lose but our chains.
We must understand that, our fight against the old state, for burying semi-feudality and crushing semi-colonialism is a struggle that is inextricably linked to the struggle against imperialism of all colors, its flag does not matter, it is imperialism, and its historical condition determines that it is there to sustain itself based on the misery and oppression of our people.
