Mexico: Solidarity before the 6 years of forced disappearance of Dr. Sernas continues
Hereby we publish an unofficial translation of an article published in Periódico Mural.
As a part of the actions of the international campaign #DrSernasPresentaciónConVida democratic organizations, as well as the CNTE, have taken position for the truth and justice before the 6th anniversary of the forced disappearance of Dr. Ernesto Sernas García. Here we share both statements for its spreading.
First statement:

AFTER SIX YEARS OF HIS DISAPPEARANCE, SECTION XXII DEMANDS ALIVE PRESENTATION OF ERNESTO SERNAS GARCIA
This 10th of May of 2024 is the 6th anniversary of the forced disappearance of Doctor Ernesto Sernas García without answers to the demand of alive presentation of the social fighter.
The also university professor, writer and researcher carried out a political activity as a defender of 23 political prisoners of the social organization Red Sun, where he provided significative evidences of the case to show the set up and forgery of the case.
During these years, the State has shown an absolute omission to clarify the facts and present Doctor Sernas alive.
On the month of March of this year, the State Commission of Searching of People in Oaxaca released for the first time directives of searching, at the same time, the General Attorney of the State of Oaxaca presented the first searching plan, which represents for the social struggle another mockery, because it has not given any results.
These attacks against the organizations in struggle have been constant, despite the changes of government, as months after the disappearance of Doctor Sernas, was murdered Luis Armando Fuentes Aquino.
Before the repeated criminalization of the social protest and the attack against the defenders of the people, the Section XXII declares the following:
– It demands stopping the criminalization of the struggle and social protest.
– Alive presentation of Doctor Ernesto Sernas García, as well as justice for Luis Armando Fuentes and all the comrades murdered in their struggle.
– Justice in the face of the aggressions against the social fighters and alive presentation of disappeared ones.

Second statement:
“STATEMENT OF SUPPORT
AFTER 6 YEARS OF THE FORCED DISAPPEARANCE OF DR. ERNESTO SERNAS GARCÍA
It has been the 6th anniversary from this May 10 of 2018 when Doctor Sernas García, member of Red Sun and defender lawyer of political prisoners and indigenous peoples, was disappeared in the state of Oaxaca.
Since then until now, the searching actions have been non-existent by the side of the different authorities, and this is added to the omissions, delays and equidistance of the authorities, we can be sure of one thing: It was the State!
In the same way as in other cases of forced disappearances committed against the social fighters, the Mexican State has dedicated itself to victimize once again the family of Dr. Sernas García and to persecute and criminalize the struggle comrades. From then until now, arbitrary detentions have been registered, also murders and attacks against the different members of his organization, confirming that this is a State policy against those who dare to raise their voice.
For that, and in the framework of the 6th anniversary of this crime of crimes against humanity, we, the signing organizations join the demand of alive presentation of comrade Doctor Sernas García and the demand of punishing the culprits for his forced disappearance.
