Mexico: Weekly Newsletter
We hereby publish an unofficial translation of the Mexican part of Solrojistas weekly newsletter:
Comrade José Díaz Gómez, Support Base of the Zapatista National Liberation Army (EZLN), has been released after being held for more than three years. In a brief statement, the Fray Bartolomé de las Casas Human Rights Center (Frayba) said: “It is with great happiness that we announce the freedom of our comrade José Díaz Gómez,Support Base of the Zapatista National Liberation Army (BAEZLN). This freedom is thanks to the determined and common action of peoples, communities, collectives, organizations, and individual people. The continuous support was to manifest the injustice, to expose the corrupt system, in which the Zapatista comrade was subject to the Arbitrary Deprivation of Liberty (PAL) that led to his life being put at risk. This is great news that we celebrate in an honest and supportive way with the Zapatista communities and our EZLN comrades. At the same time, in the midst of various struggles such as the demand for freedom and absolution of comrade Arnulfo García Santos, a Triqui indigenous displaced from San Miguel Copala, or the alive presentation of Dr. Ernesto Sernas García, who has been missing since May 10, 2018 in Oaxaca.
The Current of the People – Red Sun holds a round of ideological and political training workshops covering the history of our democratic organization and the current stage we are going through, in the midst of the ongoing Rectification Campaign. The intention is that every SolRojista militant and sympathizer knows about it and fully joins this rectification movement, attending to the multiple construction tasks of our organization as a precursor to the People’s Front. In this sense, last week we participated in the Second Regional Meeting: Conflicts, Violence and Criminalization against Human Rights Defenders and the Social Movement, with various sister organizations from Chiapas, Guerrero and Oaxaca where an important joint statement was reached. Other tasks are at hand, and our militancy is tempered by the heat of the fire of class struggle.
Our slogans are: Let us deepen our Rectification Campaign! Task set, task accomplished!
