Yesterday it was reported that the State of Israel has murdered Yahya Sinwar, considered the leader of Hamas, and since the murder of Ismail Haniyeh, chairman of the Political Bureau of Hamas, important part of the current National Resistance Front of Palestine. After some hours of inconclusive military reports and rumors by bourgeois media, the Israeli foreign affairs minister, Israel Katz, as well as the spokepeople of the Israeli army and the Shin Bet confirmed that Sinwar died. Reportedly he died along with other two Hamas combatants in a operation carried out by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The newspaper Al-Mayadeen confirmed the report few hours later. A Nova Democracia (AND) also reported on it.
Many reports on social media, as well as AND reported that, by murdering again a leader of Palestine, the State of Israel and Yankee imperialism and its servants just revealed many more of their lies: they were always stating that Sinwar was hiding and safe, far away from his combatants and along with Israeli prisoners of war. But when he was murdered he was dressing a military uniform and he was close to the frontline with other combatants. Reportedly he was in contact during these past months with the troops, following all the latest security developments on the ground. It means that he has also been in very direct contact with maneuvering Hamas combatants in separate areas of Gaza, Rafah and Khan Younis.
Yahya Sinwar was born on October 29, 1962 in the Khan Younis refugee camp. His family was victim of the ethnic cleansing by the Israeli settlers, being expelled from Majdal-Askalan, renamed as Ashkelon. Since very early he joined the ranks of the Palestinian resistance. He was soon detained for months just because he protested an Israeli criminal aggression against civilians in Jenin. He was again detained in 1988 and heavily tortured, remaining in prison until 2011. He resisted the Israeli tortures and he took advantage of his imprisonment to make a deep study of its enemy, becoming fluent in Hebrew and reading many Israeli sources. After he was released, he joined once more the ranks of the resistance. In 2012, he was tasked with coordinating the Al-Qassam Brigades. He played a leading political and military role during Israel’s seven-week offensive against Gaza in 2014. The next year, the United States labeled Sinwar as a “global terrorist”. In May 2021 his popularity raised when the Al-Qassam Brigades launched the “Saif Al-Quds” operation against the Israeli repeated aggressions in the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Since then, he became not just very popular among Palestinian masses, but in general among Arab masses in Middle East. He was considered the mastermind of the Al-Aqsa Flood and, in general, a quite brilliant military and political leader.
The State of Israel has considered him one of the biggest threats many years ago. Even before the Al-Aqsa Flood, the reactionary minister of the Netanyahu government, the Israeli minister of National Infrastructure, Energy, and Water, Israel Katz, threatened to assassinate Yahya Sinwar.
Additionally the International Criminal Court (ICC) in a very shameful exercise of bourgeois hypocrisy, after the Al-Aqsa Flood announced that it was seeking arrest warrants on him as well as on Netanyahu, and other senior officials of Hamas and the Netanyahu government. They again put on the same level as accountable the oppressors and the ones who resist oppression.
US imperialism also put him as a clear enemy of its interests in the region and in September 2024 the U.S. Department of Justice announced criminal charges against him for his role in the Al-Aqsa Flood. In this operation US imperialism provided intelligence and many resources to the State of Israel and directed the operation to murder him, as its lackey, the State of Israel, needs help to deal with the Palestinian resistance, which is far away of being crushed. And this murder will not crush the National Resistance Front of Palestine. US President Joe Biden stated that he was informed about the murder of Yahya Sinwar and he stated: “This is a good day for Israel, for the United States, and for the world”. And also stating that this is the opportunity for a “dat after” in Gaza. He blamed Sinwar and Hamas for the failure of the negotiations for a ceasefire, but actually were the State of Israel’s officers said that the war will not stop after this murder.
On the other hand the Brazilian Arab Palestine Federation (Fepal) has already expressed its solidarity and condemned the murder. It correctly stated that this murder will not stop the end of Zionism and the liberation of Palestine. The State of Israel and the pro-Yankee and Zionist media and analysts thought that after the murder of Ismail Haniyeh, Hamas would be in crisis. It did not happened. After the murder of Hassan Nasrallah, they though the same for Hezbollah. Again it did not happened. Actually their assassinations just brought new waves of mobilizations all over the world in defense of the Resistance in Middle East and condemning the Israeli and Yankee crimes. Additionally the Resistance combatants vowed to continue the struggle until the victory.
