Colombia – FCC: Song for the José Antonio Galán neighborhood

We share an unofficial translation of the article on a new song from FCC published by Nueva Democracia.

Below we share the new song made by the Cultural Combat Front-FCC about the resistance of the residents of the José Antonio Galán neighborhood, and we share the description that the FCC made about the song:

“During this year, the inhabitants of the José Antonio Galán neighborhood in the municipality of Bello lost the tranquility of their lives when dozens of families received a notification or eviction order. They are families who have lived in the neighborhood for more than 50 years, and which, like the vast majority of people’s neighborhoods in the Aburrá Valley, was built with the own efforts of the working masses, who built the houses, streets, aqueducts, etc., with the sweat of their work and with organization and solidarity among the neighbors, who came together in “invitations” to build collectively and solve each need that came.

In the midst of the current process of threatened eviction, young people sensitive to people’s problems have been supporting this important struggle. One of the comrades who participates composed and performed this musical work that talks about the problems of the José Antonio Galán neighborhood, and which we present below accompanied by some photographs of the process.”
