Menino Jonatas Camp in Barro Branco, Brazil, established
News were reported about the Barro Branco camp in Jaqueira, Pernambuco. We have previously informed on this lands, attacked by the latifundium through ‘Invasão Zero’, an armed group which defends the interests of latifundium, together with the Military Police. These Lands were victoriously defended by the peasants with their own hands.
On October 26, peasants of Barro Branco, organized by the League of Poor Peasants (LCP) decided in the People’s Assambly of Barro Branco to re-take the area destroyed by ‘Invasão Zero’, founding the Menino Jonatas Camp, in homage to the kid cowardly murdered by the latifundium in Engenho Roncadorzinho.
These lands are really important, not only for production, but also because without them, they are more susceptible to the latifundium attacks, and after the September 28 attack they cannot give any opportunity to the enemy.
Also, different events of international solidarity were done: on the 20th anniversary of CPI (Maoist) and in homage to the democrat and friend of the oppressed peoples of the world, G.N. Saibaba. “Long live 20 years of the Foundation of the Communist Party of India (Maoist)! Long live the People’s War in India!” and “Eternal salutes to comrade GN Saibaba” they shouted. Also the opportunity was taken to make a solidarity event with the Revolutionary Area Renato Nathan.
Around 150 peasants, students and activists organized by LCP prepared an homage to the Revolutionary Area Renato Nathan, which suffered a brutal attack that included illegal eviction by the latifundium, supported by the Military Police and a judge of the federal State.
In the video, in addition to flags of the LCP, Palestine and other various movements, such as Revolutionary People’s Students’ Movement (MEPR), Women’s People’s Movement (MFP), Collective Mangue Vermelho, the PCO, the activists raised two banners, with the slogans: “Long live the union of the squatters of Messias – Alagoas!” and “All support for the squatters of Messiah – Alagoas!”.
With the powerful event, the Barro Branco’s peasants re-affirmed their compromise to defend the struggle for land until the last consequences and to undoubtedly support the peasant squatters of Messias – Alagoas.

Finally, the peasants declared that they will not accept this illegal eviction passively and that they will march together, hand in hand, with the Revolutionary Area Renato Nathan peasants to take back their lands.
After the event, different participants made a march to the new camp. A Nova Democracia ends with: “Following the path of a determined struggle for the conquest of the land, the squatters of Barro Branco raised the flag of the Agrarian Revolution even higher, raised side by side with the flag of the Heroic National Resistance of the Palestinian people.”
