Extensive Electoral Boycott Campaign in Ireland

In November, An Phoblacht Abú reported about an extensive electoral boycott campaign carried out by Irish Republicans. The campaign was carried out in 12 Irish Counties, including Dublin, Wicklow, Wexflord, Carlow and Waterford. Hundred of stickers were put up, leaflets were spread, doors were knocked and other Direct Boycott actions were carried out. Within the campaign, the relation between the oppression of Ireland and the electoral farce were denounced. Here we gather the shared actions.

Mary Lou, from Sinn Féincon Party was exposed as opportunist with a graffito on her door for using the Irish Republican movement to get votes, while she rejects the just Armed Struggle for the Irish National Liberation.

The rest of the candidates’ posters were also damaged with slogans like “No to NATO” or putting up posters signed by Anti-imperialist Ireland Action, calling to boycott the electoral farce.

Together with the posters calling to boycott, there were others on the crisis of imperialism, rejecting NATO, and in support of Palestine.

An Phoblacht Abú published a statement calling on people’s mobilization in opposition to the elections.
