Call by the CUPLGIA for the mobilization on February 19
We hereby share an unofficial translation of a call that we have received by the Unitary Campaign for the Liberation of Georges Ibrahim Abdallah (CUPLGIA):
Together, we will win!
Thorough France and internationally,
1 day ahead of the Appealing Court deliberations, there is only one possibility: his release!
“There are times when to be silent means to be complicit …” (Georges Abdallah – October 1999). In the opposite way, there are times when to commit oneself, to be there, sounds like an absolute necessity, an imperative, a right and above all a duty to put an end to the intolerable, to the unbearable, to be at the side not of the executioners and their hatred but of the “disinherited of the earth” and to support another possible future.
This duty will resonate particularly on February 19 – the day before the Paris Appealing Court’s decision – when we will once again have to use our weapon, solidarity “essentially to advance the struggle” (December 2002), which in this case amounts to intensifying the pressure even more in order to break this last dam of the balance of power and to ensure that on February 20, Georges Abdallah is indeed released.
So, yes, on February 19, more than ever, let us mobilize and organize everywhere in France and internationally, in front of the places of representativeness of the French State – in front of the prefectures, the town halls, the consulates, the embassies -, let’s organize rallies to proclaim once again our implacable determination to see our comrade Georges Abdallah released.
On February 19, let us leave no one indifferent to the fate reserved for this longest-serving prisoner in Europe and everywhere in France and internationally, by the weight of our mobilization, let us do everything possible to finally put a definitive stop to this Abdallah affaire of more than 40 years, a real revenge by the State.
On February 19, let us come together and raise the alarm so that justice is finally done and that any formal notice by the United States to the French State – in this eminently political case – to circumvent a court decision that has been long overdue to be applied, stops.
On February 19, let us be massively present and demand the release of one of our own, our comrade – this revolutionary who, despite all these years, has never renounced any of his commitments, tirelessly pursued the struggle beyond the walls and is today the very symbol of the resistance.
On February 19, let us live up to our duty and call for the immediate and unconditional release of this historic combatant for the just and legitimate cause of the Palestinian people who fell into the hands of the enemy and whose release is up to us to demand because undeniably, ineluctably, certainly, within the solidarity with Palestine, in France, today is also an imperative struggle for the release of Georges Abdallah.
So, yes, on February 19, let us involve ourselves and come together for this very historical day, in the diversity and unity of our support and the strength of our commitment, to remind the French State that the release of Georges Abdallah is to be now or now! On February 20, Georges Abdallah must be released for victory or victory! Together, we will win!
