We hereby share an unofficial translation of the Mexico’s part of the latest Weekly Newsletter published by Red Sun Mexico.
Yesterday, March 3, we began our Day of Struggle for the Defense of the People’s Rights, Justice, and Freedom. The actions started with a combative march that departed from the Santa Rosa Zonal Market towards the city square, where a combative rally was carried out, followed by a political-cultural event attended by various sister organizations. Among them, the heroic Section XXII of the SNTE-CNTE participated, which recently held a 48-hour strike on February 27 and 28, and is now announcing a 72-hour strike on March 19, 20, and 21, demanding the repeal of the so-called “educational reform” of EPN-AMLO [Translator’s note: EPN means Enrique Peña Nieto, former president], the abrogation of the 2007 ISSSTE Law, for retirement based on years of service and no more UMA or AFORES [Translator’s note: Retirement Funds Administrators, companies authorized to manage Mexican individual retirement accounts], among other union demands.
Similarly, on March 4, our Day of Struggle continued with a united march demanding the presentation alive of human rights defender Sandra Estefána Domínguez Martínez; the mobilization started from the Fountain of the 8 Regions and arrived at the city square, where Sandra’s mother and sisters made an important statement. During last night’s rally, speakers from our organization emphasized that the Day of Struggle will continue in the upcoming days, also planning actions on March 8, April 11, and May 12, respectively, dates that commemorate International Working Women’s Day, the murder of our comrade Luis Armando Fuentes Aquino, and the 7th anniversary of the enforced disappearance of Dr. Ernesto Sernas García. We will share soon the report on the actions.
Stop the war against the people and stop State terrorism!
