A few days ago we shared the news about the humiliation suffered by the goons when they were expelled, once again, by the peasants in Barro Branco, when they tried to threaten them.
During the attack, one of the gunmen tried to run over dozens of peasants with a car, to which they responded by throwing stones and sticks at the car, which withdrawn and left.
Now the identity of this goon at the service of the latifundium is known. The goon, identified as Linoljol Jacinto Pereira, is a 2nd Sergeant of the 4th Military Police Battalion in Caruaru, Pernambuco.
This information was obtained by the Committee in Support of the Struggle and the Occupiers of Barro Branco, shortly before the Popular Assembly on March 1. It was also discovered that the car that was used belongs to Roberta Mesquita do Nascimento, owner of the “security” company Roberta e David Segurança e Monitoramento.
As the newspaper A Nova Democracia explains, this relationship between goons and the Military Police is nothing new and has been denounced on multiple occasions. For example, in the Fierce Battle of Barro Banco, the Military Police made war infantry tactics and positioned themselves in front of the goons, protecting them with rifles while threatening the peasants. Later, the Military Police occupied the municipal school of the region in an attempt to continue the threats and harassment of the peasants. They only abandoned it when the peasants made combative protests against them.
