After our last compilation of reports for March 8, International Women’s Day, new information has been published about struggles and actions around the world for this day. Below, we share some of these new reports:
In Londrina, Brazil, on March 9th, women from the neighborhood mobilized, going door to door to talk with residents and invite them to the event, distributing hundreds of leaflets. At the event, they denounced the police violence faced by the neighborhood and highlighted women’s resistance against police executions:




In Petrolina, Pernambuco, the People’s Women’s Movement (MFP), along with the Classist Movement of Education Workers (MOCLATE), held an event at a school on March 10th. The origins of March 8th and its significance for women were discussed.

The demonstrations have had a combative character, where numerous institutions have been denounced and actions have been carried out against them:





The Mexican State harshly repressed the demonstration and there was police brutality in Oaxaca:
There was also harsh repression in many other cities, such as Pachuca, where there were infiltrations, arbitrary detentions, beatings, use of tear gasses, and more.

The media outlet Nueva Democracia from Colombia has reported on the combative activities of March 8th in Bogotá, Medellín, Cali, and Bucaramanga. Thousands of women mobilized, carried out agitation actions throughout the cities, condemned the crimes of the repressive forces, and highlighted women’s struggle in the mobilizations for housing. The combativeness of women against imperialism in Palestine was also emphasized.




This same media outlet has also published an unofficial translation of an interview conducted with a representative of the MFP.
In Tampere, Finland, the Anti-Imperialist Collective participated in the city’s mobilizations. The collective distributed leaflets, took part in a rally in front of the city hall denouncing imperialism and patriarchy, and promoted the Anti-Imperialist League (AIL). They later joined a march that gathered hundreds of people. The police detained one activist during a confrontation with a provocateur who attended the mobilization.




In Seattle, United States, a red demonstration organized by Puget Sound Red Front took place, with over 100 attendees. The march honored revolutionaries such as Clara Zetkin, Chiang Ching, Wilma Tiamzon, and Comrade Norah, among others. Multiple police units appeared and attempted to harass the demonstrators, but they did not stop their march. The media outlet The Worker was present at the event and conducted interviews with participating comrades. After the event, workshops were held on the importance of organizing working women, the dangers of postmodernism, and the struggle of women in Barro Branco, Brazil, along with a speech honoring the memory of Fausto Arruda.









The Communist Committee of the Netherlands has published a statement in Dutch and English about the role of the revolutionary woman in the struggle.
