Røde Fane of Denmark reports that on August 23 an festival in solidarity with Palestine, “Summer and Solidarity with Palestine”,was carried out in the proletarian neighborhood of Tingbjerg in Copenhagen, and gathered activists and artists from the Palestine solidarity movement in Denmark. One of the event’s organizers further described the area to a Tjen Folket reporter who attended the event: “Tingbjerg is a strong working-class area. It is very international. People from 110 different countries live among its 5,000 residents.”
Several speeches and interventions were heard in the event from Palestine activists such Mette Nielsen who was imprisoned in Israel, as well as members of Jews for Just Peace. Antiimperialistisk Aktion (AiA) also gave a speech highlighting Tingbjerg’s political engagement as a source of strength. In addition, the Struggle Committee from Norway send a greeting to the event. Several speeches also condemned police violence, using as an example the latest episode, where police shot a fleeing man in his own car, on which we have previously reported:

Culture was also strongly present, including songs, Palestinian food, poems read in Arabic, Palestine themed rap performances from Aduma and Marb1zo and a mini-concert from the band Fri Galaxe.
Throughout the event, including the open-mic segment, participants raised slogans in support of Palestine and the struggle of poor peasants in Brazil. Tjen Folket reports that the event drew more 60 than participants including several families. Participants described the event as a success, and Røde Fane concluded that ‘Summer and Solidarity with Palestine’ brought people in the neighborhood closer together in anti-imperialist solidarity with the just resistance struggle of the Palestinian people, while also serving the organization of the local struggles in the neighborhood against anti-popular development projects.
