Mexico: Report on the Day of Struggle in Defense of the People’s Rights, Justice and Freedom
We hereby share an unofficial translation of an important report published by Red Sun Mexico on the Day of Struggle called by the Current of the People – Red Sun. The call and the preparations done can be read here:
To the working class and the toilers,
To the poor peasantry and the oppressed indigenous peoples,
To the women and youth of the people,
To the unions and sister organizations,
To the peoples of Anáhuac and the world,
On March 3 and 4 in the Rebel City of Oaxaca, we successfully launched our Day of Struggle in Defense of the People’s Rights, Justice and Freedom, which, according to our action plan agreed upon at the General Assembly in January, will continue with various actions until May, marking the 7th anniversary of the forced disappearance of our comrade Dr. Ernesto Sernas García.
It is important to mention that each of the dates included in our Day of Struggle in Defense of the People’s Rights, Justice and Freedom explains why we have chosen to name our mobilizations this way, each of which pays tribute to our disappeared comrades, our imprisoned comrades, and our fallen martyr comrades in the struggle, who are now honored as heroes of the people.

We hereby present our report to the working people on the first 2 days of mobilizations.
March 3rd
The gathering began at 8:00 AM at the Santa Rosa Zonal Market, where the residents of the Community Municipal Agency of Santa Rosa Panzacola maintain their resistance in defense of the community’s traditions, against the imposition of “authorities” by the regime of electoral political Parties that this year will once again be carried out by the current town hall administration, just as the PAN and PRI did in their time.

Little by little, the SolRojista contingents grew, as people arrived excitedly on community transport and pickup trucks from various regions of the State of Oaxaca. Before 10:00 AM, the strength of our democratic organization was already obvious, and the comrades were eager to take action. The Youth Brigades of the People (BJP) were the first to start with posters and revolutionary slogans, raising the spirits of those in attendance… “Alert, alert, alert the way is the People’s War for Latin America!”

At 10:15 AM, the contingents closed the international highway to organize themselves, and immediately the columns of red flags began to grow. At 10:30 AM, the order was given to start the march, and with that, the slogans began to resonate powerfully… “With the Red Sun, the people will win! Dr. Ernesto Sernas García, present him alive! Luis Armando did not die, the State murdered him! Jesús Manuel did not die, the State murdered him! Félix did not die, the State murdered him! Arnulfo García Santos, freedom!” among others.

The sea of red flags soon flooded the international highway, advancing disciplined in columns. The speakers announced the press release prepared by our democratic organization and provided detailed mention of the various attacks that have been carried out against our comrades, particularly in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec and the Central Valleys. The comrades noted that since the beginning of Salomón Jara’s government to date, at least 16 attacks against our democratic organization have been carried out, some of which have resulted in the murder of comrade Félix Vicente Cruz (04/13/2023), the arbitrary detention of comrade Arnulfo García Santos (06/28/2024), the attempted break-in at our press offices (11/28/2024), and the most recent attack against our comrade Yolanda Ruiz Cruz, who was pursued by an armed command very close to the city (01/25/2025).

The march made several stops; the first was at the intersection of the Technological Institute -Monument to the Mother, the next was at the Train Station, another at Madero Park, and the last was at the Steps of the Plaza de la Danza, where a position was taken in front of the City Hall of Oaxaca de Juárez regarding the various issues facing the masses in the city. During the march, the BJP and other revolutionary activists carried out graffiti and put up posters, and more than 2,000 press bulletins were distributed among the people, combating the regime’s campaigns of misinformation and demonization of our struggle.

Shortly before 1:00 PM, the march arrived at the city’s main square, right in front of the palace of ignominy (government palace), where our organization set up a platform for the rally. Immediately, the square was flooded with the red flags of the new-democratic, agrarian and anti-imperialist revolution, which the homeland demands to be free. There, once again, the speakers took the floor, asserting the non-negotiable demand for justice and freedom for the comrades who have suffered repression as a cost for daring to struggle. At the climax of the rally, one of our female speakers said, “This is the square that has seen the people of Oaxaca rise against reaction so many times, demanding justice and freedom. This is the square that today once again witnesses the dignity, the consistency, the rebellion, and the capacity to mobilize of our democratic organization, which from today on takes to the streets again […] the face and name of Dr. Sernas are present in this square, shouting alongside Arnulfo, alongside Luis, alongside Jesús, alongside Félix, and alongside all our martyrs that, it is right to rebel! Our voices join theirs, it is right to rebel, and we will win!” Immediately after the last speaker, the leadership of our democratic organization declared the formal establishment of the sit-in, and soon tents, tarps, and camps began to appear, including a kitchen area for the contingents.

At 5:00 PM, the political-cultural program began.

In the political segment, comrades from various organizations attended, including the heroic Section XXII of the SNTE-CNTE, which was represented by the Secretariat of Alliances and CETEO, sending a strong greeting while also announcing the upcoming 72-hour strike of the democratic teachers scheduled for March 19, 20 and 21. Comrades from the Front of Oaxacan Organizations (FORO) also attended, who, in addition to greeting our struggle, informed us that they will depart in a motor caravan to Mexico City starting March 10, denouncing the criminalization and repression against them. TheDemocratic Left Oaxacan Movement (MOID) was also present; they welcomed the start of this campaign, informing us that following their recent mobilization on February 17 and 18, the State and federal governments have fabricated at least 8 investigation files against them, threatening to execute arrest warrants. Comrades from the Frente Popular 14 de Junio also arrived in a march, expressing their greetings and denouncing that the murderers of comrade Enrique Martínez continue to enjoy total impunity, while his brother Javier Martínez remains imprisoned in the Miahuatlán prison as a political prisoner since the government of Alejandro Murat (PRI). The displaced Triqui women from San Juan Copala, who are marking 15 years of resistance against terror and oblivion, also attended; they expressed their greetings, particularly joining the demand for the freedom of their Triqui comrade, Arnulfo García Santos, a political prisoner in the Miahuatlán prison, and denounced being victims of discrimination and repression by State and municipal authorities in the city. Similarly, we received greetings from the neighbors of the Third Section of San Antonio de la Cal, who have shown their solidarity with our struggle and denounced that, following the environmental damage caused by the “solid waste transfer center” (i.e. open-air dump) and the criminal aggression they suffered at the hands of a corrupt union that acts as a shock group for the regime, they continue to be victims of threats and harassment from the City Hall and other public officials. These and other greetings from sister organizations that were read expressed the common sentiment within the popular movement: the need to work towards building a United Front to stop the war against the people and State terrorism.

In the cultural part, we had the participation of the comrades from the Children’s Dance Group “Cuicalli” and the Guitar Workshop of the Community Municipal Agency of Santa Rosa Panzacola. We also had the collaboration of comrades Carlos Sierra (a rock musician), Gael Mochila (a hip hop singer), and Los Lagartos (a rock band), who showed solidarity with our struggle by performing some covers and original songs. As always, the comrades from the Cultural Center and Studies of Science for Proletarian Revolution helped significantly with the dissemination of the scientific ideology of the proletariat through anthologies, books, and red pamphlets. One wonderful sight was a huge red banner approximately 7 meters long with the inscription “2025, Year of the Second SolRojista Political Congress! Let’s Build the People’s Front! Self-Determination, Self-Government, Self-Defense.” The main hallmark has been the presence of the classics of scientific communism, in clear response to the State government’s campaigns of demonization against our democratic organization.

Finally, at 10:00 PM, a new rally was held, summarizing the day’s activities, establishing the tasks for the following day, and reaffirming the upcoming mobilizations for March 8: International Women’s Day; April 11: in commemoration of the 106th anniversary of the assassination of General Emiliano Zapata, the 6th anniversary of the assassination of Luis Armando Fuentes Aquino, and the 2nd anniversary of the assassination of Félix Vicente Cruz; and May 12: in commemoration of the 7th anniversary of the forced disappearance of Dr. Ernesto Sernas García.

March 4.

Starting at 9:00 AM, the SolRojista contingents from the Metropolitan Area began gathering at the Fountain of the 8 Regions, responding to the joint call from Consorcio Oaxaca, the Current of the People – Red Sun, and the family of the feminist lawyer and human rights defender, Sandra Estefána Domínguez Martínez, who is missing since October 4, 2024.

That day marked 5 months and 156 days since her disappearance, and the main objective of this united mobilization, also supported by other organizations and feminist collectives (in addition to denouncing the omissions and simulations within the investigations and search efforts), was to announce the emergence of the Komite Pëjy Tyotk, whose central task is the search for Sandra.

The march began shortly after 10:00 AM, heading towards the main square, and the slogans “We are not all here, Sandra is missing!”, “Sandra Domínguez, present her alive!”, “Because they took her alive, we want her alive!” echoed powerfully through the streets from the northern area to the center of the city.

Upon arriving in front of the palace of ignominy (government palace) at approximately 11:00 AM, Sandra’s mother and sisters took the main entrance, accompanied by the various contingents that made up the march. Once again, the sea of red flags made its presence felt, overcoming the misinformation campaigns unleashed against our democratic organization in the streets!

Comrade Kenia hung a large banner at the main entrance with the count of time since her sister’s disappearance; there, the family and the comrades from Consorcio held a press conference, denouncing all the inconsistencies surrounding the search for Sandra, as well as the harassment and police presence during the march. The press conference ended amid powerful slogans that echoed through the halls of the palace.

At the end of the activity, a recess was declared for the actions of these first two days of our Day of Struggle in Defense of the People’s Rights, Justice, and Freedom, announcing that the comrades from the People’s Women’s Movement (MFP), accompanied by more SolRojista comrades, will cover the activities on March 8, International Women’s Day, both at the union march called by the CNTE in the morning and at the feminist camp organized by various organizations and collectives in the afternoon.
#YaViene

As part of the opening of our Day of Struggle in Defense of the People’s Rights, Justice and Freedom, our National Campaign of agitation and propaganda has also begun in preparation for the Second SolRojista Political Congress, which takes on the significant task of making a qualitative leap toward the construction of the People’s Front as a revolutionary mass front.

That is why during the activities of these first two days, we have been able to observe posters, graffiti, and other actions announcing the upcoming Second SolRojista Political Congress with the hashtag #YaViene. This initiative has been received with great enthusiasm by the contingents and even by the masses in the streets, who asked the activists about the importance of the II. Congress and how it will help the people. One example was the construction workers who stopped their work on Calzada Madero to receive bulletins and take photos of the #YaViene posters. Long live the working class, the grave digger of capitalism!

Incidents.
a) The first day.
Human rights observers also arrived at our gathering, both from the Human Rights Defense Office of the People of Oaxaca and from civil society organizations.
The first ones came with the rhetoric of “watching over the rights of the protesters,” but aside from not closely accompanying or documenting anything from the DDHPO vehicle, we know that they actually served as the watchful apparatus of the old State during the demonstration to profile the activists.
The second ones came in a spirit of solidarity, considering the context of attacks carried out in various parts of the State against different expressions of the people’s movement; these observers did accompany the march, interviewed some protesters, documented the incidents that occurred, and shared with us the record of the events. To them, we say: thank you, comrades!
Throughout the route, the presence of police elements and/or “peace delegates” without identification and dressed in civilian clothes was documented, who took photographs of our contingents while keeping their distance (the political police know that the SolRojistas are a tough nut to crack). However, no police entity was recorded engaging in acts of harassment against the contingent.

When the SolRojistas contingents arrived at the main square and flooded it with red flags, our youth immediately covered the palace of ignominy with the central poster of our Day of Struggle in Defense of the People’s Rights, Justice and Freedom, as well as the poster for the National Campaign for the Second SolRojista Political Congress #YaViene. There were no major incidents here either, except for the photographs of the State police officers who are parasitizing the palace of ignominy.
b) The second day.
The Sandra case is a matter of high interest for the old State, not because they want to resolve it, but because they need to maintain control over everything related to it.
From the beginning of the gathering, during the march, and until the end of the event at the palace of ignominy, many police elements and “peace delegates” dressed in civilian clothes could be seen profiling Sandra’s family and the most visible activists. All of these cases have been documented by the organizations responsible for defending human rights, as well as by the people’s movement.

One factor we consider to be a main issue is that, in the months leading up to this, the regime established a media blockade against our organization following the attacks on our press offices and the assaults on our comrade Yolanda. Additionally, the misinformation and demonization campaigns featuring “the ghost of communism” by the State government aim to create the conditions for a strike against our democratic organization. This is the logic of tyranny: to render democratic movements invisible, confuse them, and discredit them before launching an attack.

The start of our Day of Struggle in Defense of the People’s Rights, Justice and Freedom has represented a strong response against the media blockade and the campaigns against us, successfully breaking both, making clear not only the strength of our democratic organization but also the righteousness of our struggle and its deep roots among the masses. In this sense, the announcement of the continuation of our actions as part of the Day of Struggle in Defense of the People’s Rights, Justice and Freedom allows our democratic organization to convey the message of unity, struggle, and organization to the unorganized popular sectors, and to continue advancing the path toward building a United Front with other organized expressions of the people in struggle.

To all those who have shown solidarity in Oaxaca and other parts of the country with the start of our Day of Struggle in Defense of the People’s Rights, Justice and Freedom, we thank you once again.
