Sweden: Report on the 1st of May
We hereby share an unofficial translation of a report published by Kommunisten.
1st of May, 2025: Reconstitute the Communist Party of Sweden!
May Day Statement from the Communist League:
The Communist League acknowledges and celebrates this year the international holiday and day of struggle for the working class—marking 135 years since its establishment by the Second International. We want to highlight the tradition of class struggle that this day represents for the workers of the world, and we stand resolute in our task to contribute to the reconstitution of the Communist Party of Sweden in service of this proletarian struggle.
1st of May of 2025, occurs in conjunction with a further intensification of the fundamental contradictions in the world. In particular, the principal contradiction between the oppressed peoples and nations of the world on one side and imperialism on the other. This is clear to all who have eyes to see. In these times of intensified contradictions, with increasing wars, genocide, poverty, and famine as the only measures of the imperialists in their futile attempts to counteract the systematic crisis they find themselves in, it is all the more important that we communists can stand tall and shoulder the tasks and responsibilities required of us. That we unite under Maoism, study Marxism and the concrete reality, and that we struggle for the liberation of humanity, communism, and a classless society with all available means. One of these tasks is to reconstitute the Communist Party of Sweden as a vanguard, a fighting staff, and a war machine.
Despite the pessimistic atmosphere that the rulers of this rotten system try to instill in the peoples of the world, we communists have several reasons for revolutionary optimism as we understand that the revolutionary situation develops unevenly across the world. With the intensification of the systematic crisis that imperialism is in, we see, in every corner of the world, a tremendous resistance and uprising against the aggression that the imperialists direct against the peoples of the world. We see this in the heroic struggle of the Palestinian people against the Zionist monstrosity that is the State of Israel. We see this in the solidarity fighters in Yemen who took up the same struggle and stood firm where others faltered. We see this in the struggle of poor peasants in South America, especially Brazil, against the rule of landowners and the impoverishment of the peoples. Comrades, do we not see everywhere how the peoples of the world are speaking out—how they have had enough of this system?
Finally, we in the Communist League want to send our red and vibrant class greetings to our sister parties and organizations within the International Communist League, to the struggling masses in both the oppressed and imperialist countries, as well as to the communists, combatants, and masses in the brilliant struggles that show the way out of the crisis of imperialism—People’s Wars in Peru, India, the Philippines, and Turkey!

May Day Report from the Communist League:
The Communist League celebrated International Workers’ Day, 1st of May, with a spirit of proletarian internationalism and revolutionary optimism. We once again raised the slogan to reconstitute the Communist Party of Sweden. To serve this purpose, we focused on bringing the ideology of the proletariat—Marxism-Leninism-Maoism—to the masses by spreading our propaganda both broadly and specifically to the people.
To achieve this goal, the Communist League organized a march and several demonstrations in various working-class neighborhoods in northern Stockholm. Once on site, comrades spoke about the process of imperialism’s decay, the increased repression, and the economic crisis that is being placed on the shoulders of the proletariat while Swedish imperialists continue to make record profits for yet another year. The League spoke about organizing, struggle, and the socialist revolution as the only way out of the crisis. Below you will find pictures from the march and the demonstration:
The Communist League began the day by putting up banners in several working-class neighborhoods in northern Stockholm. This was done to reach all the masses who were not in the city center on this day of celebration and to signal to the masses that we are present among them in their neighborhoods. Throughout the day, comrades distributed leaflets at all the major demonstrations in the capital to reach revolutionary-minded masses and bring them into our ranks. We chose to end the evening with a dinner and camaraderie filled with speeches and culture to consolidate our strengths once again under the banner of Maoism.
