Reports on 1st of May mobilizations across Europe

We hereby share a translation and resumes of several reports published by Yeni Demokrasi. The full reports can be found here:

1st of May was celebrated in Germany, Austria, and England with rallies and demonstrations.

In Germany, Partizan readers and AGEB activists participated in May Day actions in cities such as Stuttgart, Nuremberg, Munich, Ulm, Frankfurt, Wuppertal, Duisburg, Hanover, and Hamburg.

In Austria, actions took place in many cities, with enthusiastic demonstrations in Vienna, Linz, and Innsbruck, where supporters of Partizan, AGEB, and ATİGF participated.

In England, an enthusiastic march by the Partizan contingent took place. Speeches during the marches addressed imperialist attacks, wars, assaults on the working class and laborers, and the ongoing struggle.

1st of May was celebrated with enthusiasm in many cities across Switzerland. In Zurich, tens of thousands of people attended the May Day demonstration. The mass march included participation from Partizan and the Anti-Imperialist League (AIL). Additionally, the TKP/ML joined the march with a banner proclaiming “Long Live Proletarian Internationalism.”

On the second day of the festival (May 2), a press statement was made regarding sick prisoners in Turkish prisons, followed by a march in the festival area. On the final day of the festival (May 3), a commemoration and march were held on behalf of Partizan to mark the 52nd anniversary of the murder of Communist leader İbrahim Kaypakkaya.

The commemoration began with a moment of silence for the martyrs of revolution and communism, with support from various revolutionary organizations. A statement made on behalf of Partizan. Following the statement, chants of “Our Leader is İbrahim Kaypakkaya” echoed as the crowd marched through the festival area. In the evening, a film screening featuring the 1st of May Taksim resistance was held.

1st of May the day of unity, solidarity, and struggle for the working class, was celebrated with enthusiasm in many cities across France. This year, an anti-imperialist contingent formed by Partizan, the Ligue de la Jeunesse Révolutionnaire (LJR), the Fédération Syndicale Étudiante (FSE), and the Unitary Campaign for the Liberation of Georges Ibrahim Abdallah (CUPLGIA) marched joyfully in Paris. The march experienced clashes between the crowd and the police at times, resulting in some arrests. The event concluded with chants.

In Strasbourg, the march began at 10 AM from Kleber Square, with the anti-imperialist contingent leading the way. The enthusiastic crowd frequently shouted slogans saluting the resistance of Palestine, denouncing the imperialist-capitalist system, and honoring the struggles of oppressed peoples worldwide.

In Lyon, around 10,000 people took to the streets for the 1st of May march, which was characterized by a spirit of struggle and anti-capitalist and internationalist demands. The anti-imperialist contingent, formed by Partizan, the LJR, the Communist Youth Union (UJC), the FSE, the Kanak Movement in France (MKF), and the Palestine Protection Committee, marched with enthusiasm for the demands of oppressed peoples and political prisoners. After the march, a symbolic action was held in solidarity with the Palestinian and Kanak peoples, concluding by singing The Internationale with a lot of enthusiasm.
