
Colombia: Report on the 1st of May
Hereby we share an unofficial translation of a report published by Nueva Democracia.
Last Thursday took place the working class’ march in various cities and municipalities in the country. The historical memorization in which participate, mainly the unions of the working class, but also an important participation of the women’s, student’s, and housing organizations, and those who struggle for different economical, social and political demands. Various revolutionary organizations also participate, and besides the struggle for concrete demands, they struggle for the necessity of the people to destroy the old Colombian State of the big bourgeoisie and big landlords in service of imperialism, mainly Yankee, and build a new society and a new worker’s, peasant’s and people’s State. We hereby share some images and videos of what has happened in different areas in the country.
In Bogotá the estimated number of participants who came to the march reach 30,000, who marched till the Plaza de Bolivar in the city center. The following video captures this immensity of mobilized people.
We want to highlight the burning of the US-imperialist flag, as part of the internationalist revolutionary bloc.

In Medellín, the march also had big dimensions, forming a river of people that mobilized for different reasons. When the front part arrived its destiny, the latest part of the march was 18 streets behind them.
We hereby share three videos that were made by the Front of Cultural Combat, where different moments of the mobilization can be seen.
We also want to remark the singing of The Internationale that was realized a mid the internationalist and Revolutionary Bloc of Medellín.
We share the images of the participation of Minga Cali in the city, organization of the deepest and broadest masses that are struggling for land, territory and housing with dignity. On various social media you can see the importance that this date has, for the working people. You can find pictures and videos of massive mobilizations in pueblo Bucaramanga, Manizales, Cúcuta, Pereira, Pasto, Barrancabermeja, Cartagena, Barranquilla, Ibagué, Popayán, Soacha, Fusagasugá, a midst other towns. Finally we highlght the first 1st of May mobilization that was realized in Casacará. Casacará is a peasant town that is part of Agustín Codazzi (Cesar). The demonstration was pushed forward by the Peasant Occupation of Cesar, who express in a call: “Peasant brothers and sister, working people of Cesar, the 1st of May we unite ourselves in a demonstration and resistance day in commemoration of the historic struggles of the working people.” Additionally the put up in their demands, the struggle for a “full and people’s agrarian reform that guarantees the access to land and dignity for those who work the land”, as well “the protection of human rights of all peasant communities”.
