Servir al Pueblo: Website recovered! Thank you for the solidarity!

We hereby share an unofficial translation of a message from the newspaper from the Spanish State:

Dear readers, comrades and friends.

First of all, we want to thank everyone for the messages and expressions of solidarity we have received so quickly. Thanks to the interpellation, and especially due to the pressure exerted, we have been able to recover our website, which is now fully operational. We have written a letter to our readers about the threat of censorship in the future.

Letter: https://serviralpuebloperiodico.wordpress.com/2025/05/18/carta-a-los-lectores-nos-censuran-por-mas-de-24-horas-y-amenazan-con-hacerlo-permanente/

[Letter to the readers] They censored us for more than 24 hours and they threat to do it permanently

Dear readers.

On May 17, Servir al Pueblo was censored. Our website was closed for more than 24 hours, and if it weren’t for the appeal filed and the pressure carried out, the closure would have been permanent. To begin with, we want to thank everyone for the messages and expressions of solidarity we have received so quickly. What is the reason they want to censor us? To repeatedly report on the People’s Wars in Peru, India, Turkey, and the Philippines, particularly regarding the People’s War in Peru. The article that specifically triggered the censorship was this one.

We reported the censorship with a post on our social media platform X and sent a note via email to friendly collectives and websites. The message sent by email is as follows:

Today, on 17th of May, 2025, we have published an article marking the 45th anniversary of the start of the People’s War in Peru. In the article, we not only discussed the historical significance of May 17, 1980, for the class struggle in Peru and worldwide, but we also asserted that this People’s War continues so far. Although the Peruvian revolution is of great importance to revolutionaries and progressive democrats around the world, it remains largely unknown in the Spanish State. For this reason, we have always spread and supported it with the best and most of our efforts.

This has not pleased Yankee imperialism. Shortly after the publication of our article, the WordPress server—part of the technological monopoly of Yankee imperialism—abruptly shut down our website. After more than three years, they closed our site, claiming violations of the terms of service due to “illegal activities.” Without further explanation, it is clear that they consider the dissemination of ongoing People’s Wars to be an “illegal activity.” Since our founding in April 2022, we have spread information about revolutionary struggles worldwide, including in Peru. The timing of this censorship is no coincidence. We are living in a historical moment of great decomposition of global imperialism and a crisis of bureaucratic capitalism in Peru, and our press has become a small but important part of the network for those seeking information about the People’s Wars in Peru, Turkey, India, and the Philippines.

Since our inception, we have not aimed to be just a news blog. We have tried to merge with the people and serve the struggles of the class. Around 16 printed issues and several special supplements attest to our work, where we have given a voice to some of the poorest and most exploited workers in our class (such as the seamstresses in Elche or seasonal workers in Albacete), documented evictions of social centers (like the Bankarrota in Madrid or Ca Caixeta in Valencia), and created reports where it was necessary to tell the truth (such as the report on Paiporta after the “DANA”). Additionally, we have contributed to theoretical discussions among revolutionaries on crucial topics such as the necessity of a boycott of elections, militarization, State reaction and fascization, the freedom of all political prisoners, and police infiltration in protest camps for Palestine.

Neither censorship nor repression will stop our goals. We will continue to spread revolutionary and mass struggles in every possible way.

If our appeals do not succeed, we will work on a new website. For now, we remain active on social media X (@serviralpueblo_) and can be reached via our email address (serviralpueblo@protonmail.com). As for our printed issues, they will continue to be distributed and can be obtained at some demonstrations in the State or at our distribution points in Madrid, Valencia, and Albacete.”

Freedom of the press and expression, a right enshrined in the Spanish Constitution, is nothing but a mere piece of paper. The Spanish imperialist State is undergoing a process of militarization, reactionarization, and fascization, in which it is progressively denying all the democratic rights that the proletariat gained in the past.

As we mentioned, the appeal and the pressure carried out have allowed us to reopen the website, which has been active for more than three years, since April 2022. The censorship we have experienced has been a soft repressive blow compared to the multiple repressive processes that exist: the six antifascists from Zaragoza, the six union members from La Suiza, the imprisonment of Pablo Hasel and other political prisoners, the seven students from Somosaguas, the seven workers from Acerinox, or the dozens of people targeted in the mass housing movement. And of course, it is also much lighter when compared to the repression faced by revolutionary press in oppressed nations, such as the repression in Turkey, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, or Brazil.

The minimum that we can do, by honesty with our work and with the sacrifice of so many repressed comrades, is to continue reporting on the revolutionary and masses’ struggles.

Censorship will not stop, neither our activity. If they shut down ten websites, we will open eleven. If they censor us legally, we will find a way to overcome it. And if they do it illegally, we will also find a solution. If they close one door, we will open others. The bourgeoisie has its ways of doing propaganda, and the proletariat has its own ones.

Read, support and spread the revolutionary press!
