France: the Trial of the pro-Palestinian Activist Alex postponed until January

We hereby share an unofficial translation of a new update on the case of Alex published by La Cause du Peuple.

On May 15, as initiatives were being prepared in over 45 cities to commemorate the Nakba, the catastrophe faced by the Palestinian people in 1948, activist Alex was tried in a Paris court. He was accused of “glorifying terrorism” due to a speech delivered on February 8 during the national demonstration for the liberation of Georges Ibrahim Abdallah. We have previously reported here on the systematic repression against Alex, including his arrest by the anti-terrorism unit and the suspension of his job due to a courageous speech.

Throughout April and May, dozens of solidarity actions were organized in preparation for the trial date, with visible support from numerous political, union, and social movements activists from France, Palestine, and elsewhere.

At the end of the hearing on May 15, where a support group accompanied Alex, the trial was postponed to January 2026. Alex is therefore free until that date, but remains suspended from his job and under the burden of a conviction in this upcoming hearing. Undoubtedly, the State’s repressive apparatus is betting on a weakened mobilization to isolate Alex and the other individuals prosecuted for their defense of Palestine. However, as the bombings in Gaza have intensified in recent days, the revolutionary youth organizations that have supported Alex declared: “We will still be here to make ourselves heard!

Alex recorded a video for his supporters:
