Hereby we publish an unofficial translation of the Mexico part of the article Weekly News Letter of Sol Rojista.
The National Coordination of Education Workers (CNTE) has launched a national strike since the 15th of May, putting up a massive rally in the main square of Mexico City. Around 200 thousands of workers of education are mobilized right now and the sections that have started the strike are Section 7 (Chiapas), Section 22 (Oaxaca), Section 14 (Guerrero), Section 18 (Micoacán), Section 19 (Morelos), Section 9 (Mexico City), Section 58 (Zacatecas), a like the bases of Chihuahua, Veracruz and other states.
The national strike is reaching for the end of the educational counter-reform of EPM-AMLO and the reform by ISSSTE of 2007, additionally demands a wage increase of 100% and the full accomplishment of the other demands of the retired and pensioned colleagues.
In their mobilizations the democratic teachers have liberated all toll stations in all entrances to Mexico City, permitting the free access to the car drivers, who state their full support to the teachers struggle. The national strike of the CNTE has the support of other people’s sectors who express their solidarity with the national teachers and the necessity of constructing the United Front to stop the war against the people.
