CUPLGIA: Call for a new mobilization on June 14
We hereby share an unofficial translation of a call that we received from the Unitary Campaign for the Liberation of Georges Ibrahim Abdallah (CUPLGIA).
On March 12, we learned that the public prosecutor’s office had filed a cassation appeal against the ruling of the Paris Court of Appeal from February 20. This court, while not challenging the release of our comrade obtained in the first instance on November 15, 2024, has postponed the case to a new hearing set for June 19, requiring him to “demonstrate a significant effort to compensate the civil parties,” a “petty legal maneuver” unprecedented according to Georges Abdallah’s lawyer.
By launching this new offensive, the prosecutor’s office—dependent on and under the orders of the government—is fulfilling its role to do everything possible to keep Georges Abdallah in prison. The only thing that is certain for us is that this event demands all supporters of Georges Abdallah to intensify the mobilization to counter this new attack from the power and its justice system. The power and its repressive apparatus are relentlessly targeting Georges Abdallah? It is up to us to demonstrate on all fronts and by all necessary means that, united for the just cause of our comrade, we will continue to struggle for his release!
In this sense, for the new battle plan launched by the United Campaign, let us seize all local initiatives to make the liberation of Georges Abdallah an imperative at every moment and in all our struggles until victory. Let us prepare for the next major national and international event on June 14—day of the next large national demonstration in Paris, just five days before the new hearing at the Paris Court of Appeal, because on June 19, Georges Abdallah must be released!
Let us be on the offensive to counter the power’s attacks!
