Bangladesh – Struggle Cannot be Destroyed by Killing Revolutionaries
We hereby share the statement by the New Democratic People’s Forum published by the Revolutionary Student-Youth Movement (RSYM).
Red Salute to all martyrs including Comrade Basavaraj, General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Maoist)!
On May 21, 2025, under the leadership of the Hindutva-fascist Modi government, 27 Maoist political activists including Comrade Basavaraj, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Maoist), were extrajudicially killed as part of a military operation called “Operation Kagar.” In this campaign, the fascist Modi regime has already killed more than hundreds of Adivasi people along with Maoist political workers. We strongly condemn and protest this brutal extrajudicial massacre.
Across vast mineral-rich areas of central India, the Indian government has launched a cruel military suppression campaign called “Operation Kagar” against the Adivasi and oppressed populations—under the pretext of cracking down on Maoists. This is because, under Maoist leadership, a people’s war is underway against the state machinery of imperialism and the comprador ruling class, waged by Adivasis, workers, peasants, and the general populace. Not only that, under Maoist leadership, a “people’s government” has been established in Dandakaranya, and various public welfare programs are being implemented. The goal of the fascist Modi government is to sabotage this revolutionary government of the people and their programs, thereby protecting the interests of imperialism and the comprador ruling elite. In other words, to evict the Adivasi communities from their lands and ensure the interests of multinational corporations.
For this reason, the Indian government has deployed thousands of paramilitary troops—especially the Border Security Force (BSF) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)—in the Abujhmad region of Chhattisgarh. This area is home to many Adivasi communities and is rich in land and natural resources. These communities, long subjected to state repression, now face even more horrific military persecution. Today, under the leadership of the Maoists, India’s oppressed Adivasi people are fighting for their very survival. In this context, the Indian state is brutally suppressing their just resistance against multinational corporate plunder by murdering Maoist political workers and Adivasis. Ignoring the “peace message” proposed by civil society, the Modi regime has even deployed the Indian military in this fascist massacre and crackdown.
The policy of state violence—extrajudicial killings of Maoist political workers and ordinary villagers in so-called “encounters,” mass arrests, and destruction of villages—only exposes the brutal character of the comprador ruling class under Modi’s fascist regime. The imperialists and their puppet governments are waging unjust wars across the world in their own interests, and the Indian state is no exception.
In recent history, operations such as Salwa Judum and Green Hunt have failed to crush the revolutionary movement led by the Maoists. Even the killing of many Maoist leaders and cadres, including Comrade Charu Mazumdar, could not destroy India’s revolutionary struggle. The assassination of Comrade Basavaraj, General Secretary of CPI (Maoist), will not end India’s revolutionary movement—except for some temporary losses. This revolutionary struggle of the oppressed people will continue on its winding path—until victory is achieved. Bloodshed is an inevitable part of revolutionary struggle. The reactionary class will not voluntarily cease their unjust wars, despotism, and barbarism. Only through the revolutionary struggle of all oppressed people can this brutality be brought to an end. Therefore, turning grief into strength is the commitment of revolutionaries and oppressed people alike.
We call upon revolutionary, democratic, progressive organizations, forces, individuals, and human rights organizations in Bangladesh and around the world to condemn and protest the unjust war and extrajudicial killings perpetrated against the people of India under the name “Operation Kagar,” and to support the struggle of India’s oppressed people.
We also demand:
1. Immediate judicial investigation into the extrajudicial killings of all Maoist political leaders and activists, including Comrade Basavaraj!
2. Immediate cessation of “Operation Kagar”!
3. The Modi government must accept civil society’s demand to end this unjust war against the people and respect the peace message proposal.
4. All detainees under Operation Kagar must be released immediately!
5. The right to self-governance, land rights, and protection from displacement for Adivasis must be recognized!
