Georges Ibrahim Abdallah will be released after spending 41 years behind the bars of French imperialism. He will be transferred from the Lannemezan prison and will travel directly to Beirut. His family is expected to welcome him in his hometown of Kobayat, in northern Lebanon.
The CUPLGIA reports this important victory as follows: “This July 17, 2025, will be forever marked with a red stone, a red triangle, as the historic day of a historic liberation. Today, we celebrate the victory! So yes, today again, just as we shouted yesterday, we continue to shout your name today, as a symbol of an unbreakable struggle, an unwavering resistance, and a victorious struggle!”
Georges Abdallah, far from bending to the demands, threats, and blackmail by the imperialists, has remained steadfast throughout his imprisonment. The CUPLGIA explains it as follows: “This victory, Georges Abdallah, is primarily yours, the result of all these years of resistance, selflessness, and determination not to surrender, not to bend, not to postpone, not to deny yourself, not to collaborate or betray, but to demand, to stand up, and to confront in order to endure and remain standing. Ultimately, it is about struggling and resisting time and again because you know it and live it better than anyone: Resistance is the law of existence!”
This is also a significant victory for the struggle of all the activists, masses, and organizations that have worked hard for years for his liberation. The CUPLGIA also states this in its statement when it affirms: “This victory is yours and also belongs to all these forces, from your first supporters in 2005—honors to them and a special thought today for all those among them who left too soon but whose militant commitment was so essential in this long-term struggle—and up to the most current supporters who have made the conscious choice to participate in this struggle that is yours, that is ours, to carry it forward in all areas and in all battles until your effective and unconditional liberation.”
This development represents a victory for the anti-imperialist cause, for the peoples of the Middle East in their struggle against imperialism and the State of Israel, and “it is celebrated as a victory for all Palestinian and Lebanese resistance and for the entire field of resistance in the region and around the world.”
