FDLP-Ecuador: Let’s Organize and Prepare the National Strike
We hereby publish an unofficial translation of a call by the Defense Front of the People’s Struggles in Ecuador (FDLP-EC).
In a urgent manner, the broad people’s masses have to organize and mobilize themselves now. The Daniel Noboa government has started a new offensive against the working people, fulfilling without uncertainties the imperialists, International Monetary Fund (IMF) and comprador big bourgeoisie and big landlord’s agenda.
In the waste yard of the National Assembly it has been approved a bundle of repressive and corporatizing laws which destroy historic rights, make the work more precarious, open the door for mass firings of public employees and deepen the criminalization of the social protest.
They have started the demolition of some strategic sectors of the State to sell it to the highest offerer. Under the pretext of “reducing the size of the State”, what is being also privatized is also the social security, the water, education and the basic services. They want to convert the entire country in a marked zone, amplifying in that way the presence of imperialism in the national territory.
The government’s economic plan, elaborated with the direct control of the IMF and Yankee consultants, don’t long for the reactivation of the people’s economy the reduction of the unemployment neither to create a social scene with dignity and without violence for our people. Its intention is to pay the external debt with firings, raise of prices, and the loot of public goods. They are eliminating the subsidies to gas, electricity and oil, what has already sparked a new wave of inflation, unemployment and hunger.
The situation of the people is critical: more then 70% of the workers are in conditions of underemployment and informality. Basic living costs for a family is more then 800 dollars a month, while the salary stays at 470 dollars a month. The public debt is higher then 800,000 million dollars, but instead of solving it, the regime is selling its “soul” to the IMF.
The violence is growing in a cruel and notorious manner, meanwhile the regime is celebrating a media circus around the extradition of “Fito”.
And meanwhile, the country is militarizing itself more, without achieving more security for the people. The attributions of the police intelligence are amplifying, raids without jurisdictional permission are being rehearsed and social fighters are getting persecuted, as well as the land defenders and unionists. They prepare to repress every sign of rebellion with bullets, prison or disappearing.
In the last week started demonstrations in various sectors of the country. Healthcare workers, power sector unions, municipal contract workers, students, and teachers already took to the streets. This is just the beginning!
The only way out for the people is the mobilization of the peasantry to blockade the cities and the masses to the streets. This is the only response that corresponds the conscious element of the class and the people.
We have to paralyze the country!
The leaders of the people’s movement cant keep on. With the hands put in reformism neither in electoral opportunism. Pachakutik, the CONAIE, Iza,Vargas: all of them are parts of “the old corporative structure of the old State. Through the “dialogue”, “the ability to govern”, the “elections” and other tricks, have demobilized the poor peasantry and the workers of the city.
The time of these miserable people is over now! Enough of reconciliation!
CREATION OF A FRONT OF STRUGGLE
The Defense Front of the People’s Struggles – EC proposes the conformation of the ANTI-IMPERIALIST FRONT OF ECUADOR, as an political instrument for struggle and organization, that forms and organizes the worker’s, peasant, youth, indigenous not cooped masses, and urban people’s sectors to confront in a combative form the government, imperialism and the comprador bourgeoisie.
We urgently have to stop the imperialist penetration: block the re-installations of Yankee military bases, stop the transnational mine expansion and reject all forms of military interference or foreign economy.
The economic package of Noboa has to be smashed: stop all firings, reverse the elimination of the subsidies, reject the privatizations and combat the repression against the people in struggle.
With this instrument, we will make a step towards the preparation of the BIG NATIONAL STRIKE and to paralyze the comprador State apparatus.
