Solidarity Campaign with Comrade Arnulfo in Mexico

Hereby we share the excerpt from the Weekly Newsletterpublished bySol Rojo on comrade Arnulfo García Santos. The comrade was imprisoned for a crime he did not commit and his health has severely worsened due to the mistreatment he is suffering.

Previously we have informed about the legal situation of comrade Arnulfo García Santos, a political prisoner in the Miahuatlán prison, Oaxaca, who is condemned to 35 years in prison and a fine of two million pesos for murder, for a crime he did not commit.

Comrade Arnulfo is a Tirqui indigenous displaced from San Miguel Copala in February 2010. He is a member of the Committee of Displaced Persons of San Miguel Copala, being the youngest leader at just 44 years old.

Arnulfo has been a militant of Current of the People – Red Sun since 2017 and is an outstanding comrade in the struggle for land and the rights of the displaced people. The legal process of comrade Arnulfo’s appealing is still ongoing, but his health worsens everyday due to the torture and mistreatment he suffered. For example, his bed was taken during October, and he had to sleep on the floor without bed sheets. His medication is not being provided (the State is obligated to provide it, but they demand that the comrade buys it himself). This situation has led to him losing 95% of his vision and 70% of his motor capacity.
