United States: Report from Palestinian Prisoners Day in Eugene, Oregon
We hereby share a report that we received.
On April 17th 2026, Eugene Revolutionary Women’s Committee (ERWC) and Eugene Revolutionary Study Group (ERSG), participated in and organized events in solidarity with Palestinian Prisoners Day.
On University of Oregon campus, in front of the admin building, a rally was held by local Student for Justice in Palestine chapter, calling for the university to cut it’s ties to the Zionist state and for Americans in the belly of the beast to take up the fight against the increased Zionist and Imperialist aggression in Palestine, Lebanon, Iran, and more.
Speeches were given on the increasing deterioration conditions of the Palestinian prisoners and the history of the international holiday to uphold their struggles. This as well as calling for the support of the armed struggle of the Axis of Resistance and all oppressed peoples just rebellion against Imperialism, the #1 enemy of the world.
A local 80 year old Palestinian man born in Jerusalem offered these words to the rally:
“On behalf of the Palestinians in Gaza, I want to say thank you.
On behalf of the Palestinians in the West Bank, I want to say Thank you.
On behalf of the the people in South Lebanon, I want to say thank you.
On behalf of the people of Iran, I want to say thank you.
On behalf of Palestinian prisoners, who are suffering so much, I want to say thank you.”
Later that day, ERWC AND ERSG facilitated a teach in, study, and letter writing event where chapter seven, “Lessons Drawn from the Solitary Confinement Experience” from “Echoes of the Shackles” by Ahmad Saadat was read and discussed.Ten letters were written, one reading:
“Dear comrade Ahmad Sa’adat,
Echoes of The Shackles has been incredibly important book for me and my comrades. In you we see a teacher, a leader, and a comrade to all of us thousands of miles away. Since reading this book I’ve been thinking of you every day, always saving time to hope for your release and good health, and deepening my commitment to the cause of the liberation of Palestine from the river to the sea.
I had a dream this week about Palestine. I’ve never been to Palestine, but knew in my dream I was there. I was walking through the beautiful shores of Gaza; the mountains of the Naqab; the forests and flowers and the wildlife. I saw people working on roofs and in factories, children in school and families in their homes. I knew it was Palestine but I also knew something was different. My comrade told me that this is Palestine in the future when it is liberated from the Zionists.
I am so thankful right now that I get to live in a time on this planet with you on it, and I look forward to sharing this future with you too.
Your comrade.”
Finally, a local community center allowed activists to create a wall of posters, exclaiming freedom for Palestinian prisoners. Information about current campaigns to support them were also shared such as Dismantle Damon.
Support for Palestinian and all political prisoners must continue to be a struggle taken on by revolutionary and anti-imperialist movements. We call on all of those participating in the construction of the anti-imperialist front to take on the work of upholding the political prisoners fight for freedom and self determination from Palestine, the United States, and across the entire globe.
