The old Indian State recently attempted to cancel the bail granted to Varavara Rao, Sudha Bharadwaj, Vernon Gonsalves and Arun Ferreira, under the excuse that they allegedly attended a meeting at the Mumbai Press Club, which was allegedly attended by people accused in the case of Bhima Koregaon, on January 19.
On Saturday, the court rejected the NIA’s pleas to cancel the bail of these four accused. The court ruled there was “no evidence to show that the gathering they attended was meant to propagate CPI (Maoist) ideology” or to “advance the ‘Urban Naxal movement’”.
