Philippines – FNDF/FFPS: Unite in support of the Philippine Revolution! Long live the NDFP!
We hereby share a statement issued by the Friends of the National Democratic Front (FNDF/FFPS) on April 24.
Friends of the National Democratic Front (FNDF/FFPS) Global Secretariat
Friends of the Filipino People in Struggle/Friends of the National Democratic Front (FFPS/FNDF) congratulates the Filipino people and their revolutionary movement on the 53rd anniversary of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP).
Since its founding in 1973, the NDFP has grown into a strong and broad united front of all oppressed and exploited Filipino masses, under the leadership of the working class. It is composed of the Communist Party of the Philippines, the New People’s Army and 16 revolutionary mass organizations, and unites millions of Filipinos for revolution to overthrow the semi-colonial and semi-feudal system.
Since the CPP Central Committee has called for the third rectification movement in 2023 the NDFP has strengthened itself. Throughout the year the revolutionary mass organizations have expanded and consolidated themselves with new chapters being formed, congresses and conferences being held, and membership expanding. These news has filled us with joy, inspiration, and hope for further successes.
Amid this advance, the US-Marcos regime is continuing its war of suppression. It commits countless war crimes and indiscriminately targets revolutionaries, legal activists and regular civilians. The recent killing of 19 individuals in Toboso, Negros attests to this.
Marcos furthermore relies on imprisonment to silence dissent. Using trumped-up charges, the numbers of political prisoners have reached nearly 700. Among the political prisoners are NDFP peace consultants and staff, mass leaders and members of people’s organizations. Within the overcrowded prisons they face conditions designed to break their spirits.
In response to these violations FNDF members will hold propaganda and mass actions, ranging from social media actions to demonstrations, in the coming days. We call on the release of all political prisoners in the Philippines, especially the NDFP political prisoners, and to hold the US-Marcos regime accountable for its crimes against the people.
FNDF call on all anti-imperialist and progressive forces to join these actions, and to unite to provide all possible support to the NDFP and the Filipino people, particularly the communities affected by militarization. We should echo the call for justice for those killed and for freedom for all political prisoners. We should expose the worsening fascist attacks by the US-Marcos regime, while propagating the gains that the revolution brings to the masses.
As the Filipino people continue to unite for national freedom and democracy, let us too unite in our support to their revolution. Let us emulate their bravery and steadfastness and exert every effort to aid them until the chains of oppression and exploitation are broken.
Long live the NDFP!
Long live the Filipino People in Struggle!
End the US-Marcos war of suppression against the Filipino people!
Free all political prisoners in the Philippines! Free the NDF Political Prisoners!
