Denmark – Anti-imperialist Action: 1st of May Statement

We hereby share an unofficial translation of the the statement from Anti-imperialist Action of Denmark, published by Røde Fane on the 1st of May.

Proletarians of all countries, unite!

RAISE THE BANNER OF THE INTERNATIONAL ANTI-IMPERIALIST FRONT ON THE WORKERS’ INTERNATIONAL DAY OF STRUGGLE

The capitalist world system, imperialism, is in crisis. The imperialists are trying to overcome this crisis by unleashing more and more threats and wars of aggression against the oppressed nations and by intensifying their exploitation of them.

The greatest enemy of the peoples of the world is Yankee imperialism, along with its lackeys in Israel, who are carrying out genocide against the Palestinian people, threatening to annihilate the Iranian nation, and unprovokedly attacking countries in the Caribbean and Latin America. Russian imperialism dreams of regaining its position in the world as a global superpower, which is why it continues its war of aggression against Ukraine, and Chinese social-imperialism itself dreams of one day becoming the world’s number one parasite.

Anti-Imperialist Action stands firmly on the side of oppressed peoples and nations. We unconditionally support the Palestinian resistance struggle; we support oppressed nations and their right to defend themselves against any form of imperialist aggression. We support the Greenlandic people’s right to national self-determination from both the Danish colonial power and any other imperialist power.

We who live in imperialist countries like Denmark have a duty to support national liberation struggles by fighting Danish imperialism. That is, the State that serves the interests of Danish finance capital and not the people. The state that also upholds capitalist exploitation in Denmark and cracks down on movements fighting for real change. Danish imperialism is itself in a precarious situation: it is forced to militarize in order to maintain its position among other imperialist countries in the EU and NATO. This actually exacerbates its crisis, which is felt everywhere—both economically and politically—including in the fact that the representatives of the capitalists have not yet been able to form a government following the last electoral farce.

Organize the struggle against imperialism internationally!

We take to the streets on the The Workers’ International Day of Struggle, a day that marks the unity of workers in every country in the struggle against exploitation, oppression, injustice, and for a new society. We stand shoulder to shoulder with the people of the oppressed nations, who make up the majority of the world’s population, in the struggle against imperialism.

All struggles against imperialism and its symptoms are just, but for the struggle to triumph, it must follow a common proletarian course that targets the root of the problem and not just the symptoms. This course is guaranteed through organization under a correct and just line, both nationally and internationally.

We therefore salute and support the Founding Congress of the International Anti-Imperialist League—an international organization of struggle that builds bridges between the struggles of the oppressed nations and the anti-imperialist movements in the imperialist countries.

More than 50 delegations from 14 different countries across the globe attended the Founding Congress in Colombia on April 3–5 of this year, where unity was achieved on the anti-imperialists’ common program and on how to organize the front internationally. A large number of organizations endorsed the Congress, even though they could not attend in person, and the Congress received greetings from both the PFLP and the revolutionary movement in India. Movements across national borders that have long supported one another were now able to meet and look each other directly in the eye, forging closer ties during the Congress.

The Founding Congress of the Anti-Imperialist League marks the beginning of a new chapter in the internationally organized anti-imperialist struggle, and every organization that agrees with the Front’s principles should become part of it.

We in Anti-Imperialist Action therefore call on you, here on The Workers’ International Day of Struggle, to join the international anti-imperialist struggle, to organize within the Anti-Imperialist Front, and to help build it into a larger and stronger force in Denmark.

Long live International Workers’ Day!

Long live proletarian internationalism!

Join the International Anti-Imperialist Front!
