Successful Class-conscious March in Santiago de Chile

We hereby share an unofficial translation of a note on the 1st of May march in Santiago de Chile by the Newspaper El Pueblo.

The Class-conscious Workers’ Federation and other labor, political, revolutionary, and democratic organizations called for and organized a march of thousands of people to commemorate the day of the working class, the peasantry, and the people.

A group of comrades organized under the Class-conscious and Popular Coordination participated in the march as part of an effort to build political unity.

Flags of the new International Anti-Imperialist League (AIL) and the Anti-Imperialist Front – Chilean section – were also raised, as they took part in agitation, propaganda, and popular protest.

The youth demonstrated their readiness for struggle and resistance against the police, and several arrests were made, some involving comrades who will be formally charged today with various offenses.

While this mobilization faced heavy repression, the other march, called by the opportunistic CUT, encountered no major difficulties. Let us recall that the CUT is an organization co-opted by the fake “Communist” Party and that its march brought together the same organizations subservient to the previous Boric government and the Frente Amplio (Wide Front), which deepened exploitation, the anti-land-grabbing law, and the militarization of Wallmapu, and paved the way for the rise of Kast’s ultra-reactionary government.

At a time when imperialism is intensifying its barbarism and its national lackeys are complying with all of its anti-popular measures, we salute the existence of the militant, revolutionary, anti-imperialist sector that fights against revisionism, opportunism, and all anti-people tendencies.
