Despite the recent ceasefire agreement between Yankee imperialism and Iran – officially signed as of today, the 17th of June – Israel has continued it’s attacks in southern Lebanon, launching airstrikes, drone attacks, and artillery bombardments.
Netanyahu has remarked that Israel will continue its occupation in southern Lebanon despite any possible outcomes of the negotiations between Yankee imperialism and Iran: “We established a buffer zone, a security zone, and we will remain there for as long as necessary”
Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya military headquarters has stated that Israel has violated the Lebanon ceasefire 84 times in two days, this includes an airstrike targeting an apartment building in the Beirut southern suburb of Ghobeiry on Sunday 14th, murdering three people and wounding seven. On Monday 15th Israeli warplanes carried out two raids on the town of Majdal Zoun, while an Israeli drone struck Kfar Tebnit.
Yesterday, Israel murdered at least four more people and injured several others in a series of drone strikes targeting towns in southern Lebanon’s Nabatieh district. Some media sources indicate that Israel used the so called ‘douple-tap’ method by launching a second strike on the same place – targeting emergency workers and other people that had gathered after the initial strike.
Israel’s forces also carried out additional attacks in the Nabatieh district throughout the day with reports of attempts to advance towards the Ali al-Taher heights, that have been countered by Lebanese resistance fighters.
In addition to the resistance blocking an advance, Hezbollah has reported about recent rocket and drone attacks against Israeli troop concentrations and military vehicles in southern Lebanon, and that its air defense units intercepted three Israeli Hermes 450 drones, forcing them to retreat.
Hezbollah states that resistance fighters targeted gatherings of Israeli soldiers and military vehicles in Rashaf and Taybeh using rocket barrages and launched attack drones against Israeli troops and vehicles in Naqoura with simultaneous attacks in other locations, striking an Israeli Merkava tank and an engineering robot. In a separate operation an Israeli ‘Nimar’ military vehicle was struck as well.
Hezbollah has released footage of recent attacks and statements showing that the people of Lebanon refuse to be “a buffer zone” for Israel.
