Anti-imperialist Demonstrations in Germany
We hereby share an unofficial translation of a report on a march in Dortmund published by Dem Volke Dienen on the 19th of July.
Dortmund: Anti-imperialists of the world, unite!
Yesterday a successful anti-imperialist demonstration was held in Dortmund under the slogan “Anti-imperialists of the world, unite! Free Palestine!”. Beforehand an alliance of different progressive, anti-imperialist and revolutionary organizations had mobilized to the demonstration with a joint call.

The march was combative throughout, and the participants resolutely expressed their solidarity with all the exploited and oppressed of the world, as well as their hatred towards imperialism. Many Palestinian flags – and of other oppressed nations – were raised throughout the demonstration, next to flags of the International Anti-Imperialist League (AIL), which was also being promoted in leaflets.

In the speeches held, the national resistance struggle in Palestine, the rejection of all imperialist aggression, as well as the need for the oppressed and exploited of the world to struggle against imperialism in a joint anti-imperialist front, were upheld. Along the route revolutionaries unfurled a banner of several meters, presenting it with shouts of “Death to imperialism.”

As is commonplace in marches in solidarity with Palestine in Germany, the Dortmund police tried to intimidate the participants, issuing pages upon pages of conditions before the demonstration, and attempted to attack the demonstration multiple times. This had little effect on the determination of the participants, who were firmly united in not letting themselves be silenced by arbitrary conditions or provocations, instead expressing their opinion, and thereby in fact carried out a powerful, determined demonstration.

Dem Volke Dienen also reported on a march in solidarity with Palestine and Lebanon held in Hamburg on Friday the 17th, in which the police also tried to intimidate and even arrest participants, who defended themselves against the attacks.
