Donald Trump announced on Friday a deal to grant Yankee imperialism control of over 65 billion barrels of the Venezuelan oil reserves. Trump already announced that Yankee imperialism took over Venezuelan oil at the beginning of August, but the agreement stayed secret until now. Yankee imperialism announced the agreement as a great triumph for its interests, and by doing so, showed once more the country-selling character of the current government led by Delcy Rodríguez.

Delcy Rodríguez granted a private joint venture a 100-year concession to operate in oil fields that make up 65 billion barrels of petroleum, which is around the 20% of reserves of Venezuelan oil. The joint project is between the US government and “an experienced private operator in Venezuela.” The US government will directly control 55% of the joint venture.

Additionally, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Department of the Treasury announced new licenses authorizing the “Supply of Certain Items and Services to Venezuela Related to Telecommunications” and “Authorizing Negotiations of and Entry Into Contingent Contracts for Investment in the Telecommunications Sector of Venezuela.” These licenses force Venezuela to exclusively make business with Yankee imperialism, in order to buy, for example, technology, software, supplies, hire the maintenance services or installation services from Yankee companies, etc. Therefore, Yankee imperialism has also – openly and completely – taken over the Telecommunications sector in the country.

Delcy Rodríguez acknowledged the oil deal made with Yankee imperialism, and claimed that this agreement will bring around $19 per barrel. She expressed, full of pride her joyful satisfaction for having sold the vast richness and sovereignty of the country for a plate of lentils to her Yankee masters. She added that the government is still evaluating other agreements with imperialist monopolies such as Chevron, Repsol, Eni, Shell and BP.

The United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), whose General Secretary is Diosdado Cabello, has expressed full support for the country-selling agreement, which they have declared “mechanisms of recuperation of production that prioritize the national interests”

We have reported on the Yankee intervention in Venezuela, including a US military intervention that took place in June, as well as the military drill in Caracas that took place in May:
